Is it safe to wash a rag used with Clorox Bleach with my other clothes?

When I clean, I use Clorox Bleach Clean-Up along with a rag (instead of paper towels). Can I put that rag in the washer with my other clothes/towels or will it ruin them?Is it safe to wash a rag used with Clorox Bleach with my other clothes?
I rinse out my rags really good. Let them air dry. Then wash them with my dish towels and rags, which I use bleach with anyway. Is it safe to wash a rag used with Clorox Bleach with my other clothes?
It can possibly ruin dark clothes, jeans and reds........It would be fine to put in with other cleaning towels and can actually refresh bath towels..........My advise- put it in a load with nothing you find very important and Happy Cleaning!
NO please don't. It will possibly ruin any colors. I do the same but I throw mine in with whites or towels that I do not care about.
rinse it out really well in the sink first

  • Blue dye ran from a pair of pants during the wash, and left blotchy stains all over my other clothes. Help?

The clothes were washed in cold water. The blue dye ran from a pair of cotton pants, and stained the rest of my clothes, most of which were light in colour. I've washed them a second time, minus the pants, with extra liquid soap and bleach, with no change.Blue dye ran from a pair of pants during the wash, and left blotchy stains all over my other clothes. Help?
Do not put the stained items into the dryer( it will permanently set the dye) . Get a bottle of Rit Dye remover, it may strip more of the base color of the garment, but it is better than no hope. Follow the directions on the bottle or package. It come in liquid and a powder.

Most large grocery stores have it , or Walmart.Blue dye ran from a pair of pants during the wash, and left blotchy stains all over my other clothes. Help?
What you need is a resident dye stripper. You can find it at most grocery stores near the chlorine and other wash products. You just soak your clothes in it and it removes dye that is not mordant set. You might inquire about resident dye stripper at your dry cleaners.
You can buy a specific product for dye that has run into other clothes. I cant remember the correct name of it, but it is made by a brand called Dylon. I know there are other brands that make a similar product also. It removes the dye that has run.

What is the best way (without washing) to remove B.O. from clothing?

I don't have access to a washer right now (no $ for machine and no washer in the shelter). How can i get the BO out of my clothes? What is the best way (without washing) to remove B.O. from clothing?
Spraying dirty underarms on clothing with anything will only maginfy the odor! The only remedy for B.O. in fabric is washing the clothing in soap, detergent. You can pick up cans to get enough money to buy a bottle of laundry detergent. Also I would bathe more often. Soap is cheap and there are sinks with running water everywhere. Wash up each day and use deodorant. What is the best way (without washing) to remove B.O. from clothing?
Hand wash in your tub even with shmpoo if you don't have detergeant and then hang them in the sun to dry and let the sun kill any bacteria.
Buy a small laundry detergent at a dollar store (they are everywhere now) and a small box of baking soda You will only spend about $2 and change.

Mix a little bit of the baking soda (about a teasponfull) and a little bit of the detergent, place in a plastic pail with enough water to cover your clothing item.

Leave overnight, next day rinse your clothing with clean water, wring out and air dry. The baking soda is the one that takes takes out the smell. Best of luck!
Take a shower or bath with your clothes on. Use shampoo and soap. Hang outside to dry.
Get a cheap bottle of liquid detergent and hand wash and hang dry. REally no other way to get rid of it. Also, get Arm %26amp; Hammer deodorant. This is the best one I have ever tried. I worked in a kitchen in the summers that got up to 120 degrees, and I NEVER smelled like BO.
Spray them with some body spray and hang out side to air out. Good luck! :)
Best would be a coin laundry. If thats not an option handwash using any detergent available. If you cant do that either then a spray like Fabreeze (?) might work. You need something that will kill bacteria rather than just overpower the smell.
    You could try some Febreze.
    febreeze
there has to be a wal-mart around (they are EVERYWHERE)-use their bathroom. Some people have used the toilet as a washer, I know it sounds ';gross'; but if it's cleaned and the water is clean-no problem. Use the hand soap that's in there. You can use the sink to wash up too.

Fox urine is what deer hunters use- it kills the worst B.O but then you'll have a different kind of problem.

Is it okay to put oxiclean stain remover on spots on my clothes and then wait a whole day to wash them ?

Its not a stain stick, its what you put on the spots right before you wash them !Is it okay to put oxiclean stain remover on spots on my clothes and then wait a whole day to wash them ?
if you're talking about the powder, make sure you thoroughly dissolve it in very hot water, or the granules can ';burn'; holes in your clothes. then it's ok to let it soak for a day. if it's a liquid, you can wait until laundry day after treating. Is it okay to put oxiclean stain remover on spots on my clothes and then wait a whole day to wash them ?
    follow the directions,it works well

How do you wash bed sheets, towels and clothes?

I need kind of a guide for washing bedsheets, towels and clothes...

I just had a party without mum knowing and i neally pulled it off but she seen all the dirty washing in the washing basket so i need help on how much washing powder to put in there, what colours go with what etc etc...

ThanksHow do you wash bed sheets, towels and clothes?
May not help, but here's how I do it...

Sheets and pillow cases are washed cold/cold on the high capacity setting with regular detergant and oxy-clean. in the dryer, two sheets of bounce for extra comfyness.

Comforter, wash on delicate with half the detergant for an oversized load, and cold/cold (all my bedding is black)

As far as cloths, if they're colors that have been washed at least three times, pretty safe bet they won't bleed, I wash them warm/warm with everything else, a second of liquid arm and hammer, then two dryer sheets. If it's newer colored cloths... just don't wash them with whites. If you like yellow (I do) and you have enough yellow for at least half a load, wash yellow on it's own, warm warm untill you've done a couple of washes.

For women with lacy crap, you don't want to wash anything silk or delicate with jeans, as the jeans will destroy the lacy crap because it's corse enough to be like sadpaper to that stuff... guys need not worry, t-shirts and no-iron button down shirts are safe (unless you loose a button). When it comes to losing buttons, there's no science to sewing one back on... no one will knotice your pattern vice the factory, unless they really have no life, and who really cares about their attention to fasion anyway, the rest of us are out for sucess, and in the end, we'll more than likely make more moolah than the fashion nuts anyway.

If it's wool... dry clean.. wool is tricky because it's a animal fiber and animals have to be tipped and tackled with care... you just can't go all willy nilly with wool, so fail safe and dry clean. If you're a smoker, or around smokers, invest in some ceder hangers and blocks, and they'll help to abosorb smells (amazingly) and it will cut your dry cleaning bill in half. If you do find something wool to be a bit big, but you still want to wear it, run it through the washing machine, and dryer... it will shrink (had to do that with my military uniforms).

    Hope that helped a bit.

How do you wash bed sheets, towels and clothes?
Add about a cup of white distilled vinegar to each load (along with the soap %26amp; clothes). The vinegar will act as a water softener and will also help to disolve and body fluids/oils so no stains get set when you dry them.

Also - don't put anything in the dryer that still has a stain on it - just put it back in the washer and run it through until the stain is gone.
Put the towels with just towels and the sheets with only sheet

    Wash in whites- any light

Darks- black or dark blues etc

    And colours

Anything that is really colourful will need to be hand washed seperately

And on the container of the washing powder it will tell u how much to put in
Light colors with light, dark with dark. Read the labels on everything to know the water temperature. Almost everything has washing instructions attached. Read the instructions on the laundry detergent to know how much to put in the washer.
Whites get washed in hot water, a little bleach and a cap full of detergent. Towels and such can get washed in warm water with a cap full of detergent. Dark colors like jeans or colored T shirts I wash in cold, with a cap of detergent.

    Hope this helps!
Good luck getting away with it since a mother always know when something is up.

What happened at your party that you need to wash the sheets and towels?
Just make sure you put colors with colors. Ex. Whites with whites... colors with colors. To be safe just wash them in cold water in a large load if there is a lot of laundry.

Put a cap full of detergent with it.
Put them in a washing machine. Make sure you put the dark colored things together, and the lighter colored things together as well.
put all colours together unless new. put whites with whites 1 cup of powder in before you put clothes in.. towels with towels but not to many in a load or your washing machine will stress coz of the weight and sheets with sheets
    WASHING MACHINE
first put sheets in all together with one scoop put it on the water save setting

    then dryer

put all towls together do the same then dry them all fold them and put them back
ok woman separate colored from uncolored then wash colored with the same color it is!!!!!!!!
Well usually there's water involved you should ask a wise man who's answering powers exceeds my own
    In the washing machine
okayy so separate the whites from the darks and

then wash on cotton sturdy..with bleach for whites

    lol...wow im only 16 and i kno..

    maybe u wanna try google.
throw them in the washer and then the dryer
    With your hands?

Colour has run in my wash. Is there anyway to restore my clothes to thier original colour?

Something red or pink ran in my washing yesterday. I have some underwear and a couple of tops that are now pink, they were once white. Is there anyway or getting the red/pink dye out or are they ruined? They all have other colours on them so I assume I can't bleach them.Colour has run in my wash. Is there anyway to restore my clothes to thier original colour?
Everything that is white can be bleached even though there may be some other colors on them as long as you do not use too much bleach. Follow directions on the bleach bottle for the size of the wash load. Use cold water and bleach. Do not put the clothes in the washer until these have mixed so you don't get holes in your clothes. Once the washer has filled to where you need it, let it start to mix the bleach and water together then add the clothes and let them sit for about a half hour then finish running the wash cycle. Hopefully the colors will come out, if not do it again, but do not dry the clothes in the dryer before bleaching them the second time as that will set the color even more. You can also add some white vinegar to the water, about a cup.

Good Luck.Colour has run in my wash. Is there anyway to restore my clothes to thier original colour?
I can't remember the full name, but it is called Oxy something, I hear it works
yes its called Rescue you can get it at any supermarket you can find it on the wash powder section.
You can use bleach if you use a very mild concentration, approx. 1/4 cup per large load.
IF THEY ARE WHITE JUST USE A CUP OF CLOROX IN A FULL TUB WASHER AND LET THE SOAK. THEN WASH WITH TIDE.
they have things in your supermarket called keep it white they get all the crap out of your clothes
You can by stuff from the supermarket, but you have to use it straight away before the clothes dry or it won't work as the colour will have set.
There is also a product called the shout stain catcher, avail. at any store. You can also use it any time you wash to prevent colors from transferring.

What is ';Laundry Wash in Watery Solution'; on clothes care lable?

It means to use Woolite in a sink or tub. If you don't know what that is, it comes in a blue and white shampoo sized bottle and is sold next to the laundry soap. It's been awhile sinced I've used it, but I think you just used a capful or two.

  • Can I wash these clothes together?

My son has some new school clothes, he's worn them and now it's time for them to be washed.

Dark blue cotton shirt, light blue cotton shirt, dark blue jeans, bright red cotton shirt, olive green cotton shirt, olive khakis, bright red polyester shorts...

If I wash all these together in cold water, do you think any of it will bleed?

Thanks! Can I wash these clothes together?

You should not wash the jeans especially, with all the rest,

as they may bleed. I would probably wash most of those pieces

alone , at least for the first wash, just to be safe. If you decide

to take the chance, fill the washer up first with the cold water,

add some salt, as that helps set the colors, and do not add the

clothes until it is agitating, or ready to. That would be my advice.

I do hope it helps! Can I wash these clothes together?
Yea all on a 40 wash....Turn the jeans inside out, as that stops the colour from escaping if they was 2 bleed...I do all my colours 2gether like this %26amp; never had a problem
I would them on small loads

    Blues together

Reds never mix with other clothes. This one those color that bleeds no matter what

Greens with other bright colors expect red

Why do my clothes come out of the washing-machine all kinda ';sandy'; (speckled with white/black particles)?

It started few months ago, and whatever I do, I couldn't find the source of those black/white stuff. Is it dried detergent?

When the machine is not used, there's nothing in there. But when I wash something, they come out speckled like that.

Thanks for the info. Why do my clothes come out of the washing-machine all kinda ';sandy'; (speckled with white/black particles)?
If you used powdered detergent it may be detergent. If using cold-water wash when this happens it may mean the water isn't warm enough to dissolve the detergent. I had this problem. Switching to liquid detergent or using warm water should fix the problem. If you've tried either of those fixes and still have problems let us know. Why do my clothes come out of the washing-machine all kinda ';sandy'; (speckled with white/black particles)?
try cleaning the filter out it is normally at the front or side near the bottom ,have a saucepan to hand as a small amount of water comes out when u undo it, there could be the fluff of old woollen socks in the there.
cheap nasty soap powder ,rubber inside machine could be rotton,or you've left something in side machine do a wash in a laundry if it don't happen ..get a new washer
Do you turn your clothes inside out when drying them?

    You should..
try running a boil wash cycle with nothing in the machine before you do any more washing

I too have washed ';dry clean only'; items, usually with good results. They also have those products that you use in your dryer to ';dry clean'; at home, check the laundry aisle at your discount store or supermarket. Can I hand wash ';dry clean only'; clothes?
YesCan I hand wash ';dry clean only'; clothes?
i have done this many times and had great success with it you need to use woolite or coolwash lay flat to dry and may need a cool iron.
It depends on the fabric content. Try ';airing'; them or using

Febreeze. Spot clean any stains carefully.
No, they will get wrinkled. When you take the clothes to the dry cleaners they use a special method of cleaning that can only be done at a dry cleaners' place.
Most of them you can unless they are wool. You should wash them in cold water and air dry them without heat in the dryer or hang them in the bathroom or something. A sweater that might stretch out of shape you should lay out flat on a towel to dry.

How do you effectively wash clothing in the sink of a hotel bathroom?

How do you effectively wash clothing in the sink of a hotel bathroom?

Looking for details on this arcane topic. What kind of soap if best? In what quantity do you use it? How long should one let clothing soak? What's the most effective way of getting most of the water out of the clothing? How do you effectively wash clothing in the sink of a hotel bathroom?
Woolite is good for hand washing but use very very little as it is super concentrated.

Squeeze clothes gently to remove excess water then place a towel or towels flat lay washed item in the towel flat. Roll the item tightly up in the towel this will take out the excess water. Keep rolling in dry towels until as much water as possible is removed then hang or lay flat to dry depending on fabric.

You can use a blow dryer on warm of cool setting (depending fabric) to dry faster.

Make sure to request extra towels for your room before doing you laundry.

The link I put here will help you every step of the way washing clothing while traveling.

I hope this helps. How do you effectively wash clothing in the sink of a hotel bathroom?
Use the shampoo if you have nothing else. Run lukewarm water into the sink, put in a bit of shampoo, say one or two spoonfuls(too much will just mean more rinsing), swish the clothing around a bit, let it soak a few minutes, swish it again, rub a bit if the clothing will take that, drain the water, fill sink with fresh water to rinse or rinse under running lukewarm water until you feel no soap residue. Lay clothing out flat on a towel, roll up the towel, squeeze but don't wring, hang or lay flat to dry the rest of the way.
I'd use woolite and follow the directions on the bottle. Then hang clothes to dry.

  • White clothes are always dingy after wash, why?

I use baking soda to boost whitening, bleach, and hot water. Clothes always come out dingy.White clothes are always dingy after wash, why?
I've recently started to use a product called DR Beckhams Glow white it's fantastic pop it in along with the washing powder and your white will be whiterWhite clothes are always dingy after wash, why?
Hot water makes whites grey - don't go above a 40 wash. Unless you use bleach specially made to whiten clothes it can make whites go creamy or yellow. I don't know about baking soda - I know soda crystals (for cleaning not baking) are great for whites.

I usually do my whites on a 40 with normal washing detergent with something like vanish or soda crystals in the wash and I don't have a problem with them going dingy!
limescale? try a calgon next time.

In the mean time, get a whitener from the supermarket to soak your clothes in- they work to whiten lingerie and smaller white items. You can also buy clothes bleach, not tried it myself but could be worth a look. Dylon make them, and other people like glo-white also.
It could be your water. It could be really hard water with lots of minerals that's making your clothes that way. Try a scoop of Oxy Clean and see if that helps. You can also have your water tested for hardness. Take a sample into Culligan or a local water softener dealer. Good luck!
i found that fabric conditioners do it, if you use a coloured one. i always use a white conditioner and always do a whites only wash, and crystal white can help. i have a lot of white shirts to wash and this always works for me
Sometimes I put on a wash and then turn it off at the plug to let them soak and then turn the machine on again an hour or so later.

I also use a colour catcher it's amazing how dark it gets.
It could be with adding the bleach that's done it try vanish or a pre treatment or power wash. Also the amount of washing powder to lime and chlorine that's in the water persevere
i used to get dingy white clothes when i did not use prewash on washer i always use prewash
best thing for whites is a scoop of oxy clean dont use bleach it can make your clothes yellow

Gray spots on clothes after i wash them?

    yes,

1st, stop drying on such a high heat setting.

2nd, they make a ';Shaver'; for this condition. You can find them at Walgreen's, Rite-Aid, Walmart, etc.Is there any way of removing those greyish fluff balls that appear on your clothes after you wash them?
Lint rollers. theyre these sticky papers you roll all over your clothes, the cheap thing would be to tie tape in a wide circle around your hand and take it off bit by bit.
That condition is called ';pilling';. Use a lint shaver to remove them.
    A lint brush.
wrap tape around your hand and pat them off

not sure. I would wash it sepratley just to be sure.
Wash it separately because it could possibly bleed. Wash it with like colors, you should always have three separate loads or more. Whites, light colors, dark colors, and check the pockets!
Yes, it will leave gray blotches on your other clothes wash it seperately.
In nurseing homes they write on clothes with a Sharpie

The clothes in Nurseing Homes are not all Black. The Markers fade some times and if you ironed on a tag those come off in a couple washes some times. Even worse when the Iron on tags come off the glue some times winds up on other clothes and putting holes in other clothes and stuff. It is a mess.

Depending on what you use and do when you wash your clothes it could bleed. Avoid Hot %26amp; Warm Water,.. and Bleach,.. Obviously Bleach.

If your still very concerned you could try to pin something that will cover both sides of the writeing, especially the first wash, so if it leaks it goes into what you pin on.

  • Is it true that putting your clothes in the wash on a high heat setting will shrink them?

i have lost weight and a few of my clothes are now a bit too big for meIs it true that putting your clothes in the wash on a high heat setting will shrink them?
ya may beIs it true that putting your clothes in the wash on a high heat setting will shrink them?
In my experience it's not a hot wash that does it, it's a long spell in the tumble dryer!
Most garments will shrink but some could also be ruined so its a chance you take
    yip
    yes
Yes, washing and heat setting will/may cause shrinkage depending on fabric quality.
no im afraid that only works on cirtain materials, plus you can never garuntee that you cloths wont shrink down to kiddies size otherwise everyone would be doing it!! lol
Yes, but the results won't be drastic, just about a 5% shrinkage.. or less.

    Try ironing them too
yes but it depends on the material. and its pretty unpredictable how it shrinks. its probably better to take them in on the sewing machine than risk it.
If the clothes in question are cotton.
YES,IT IS TRUE.but, then again,i put mine on a normal wash and they still shrink...
cotton is probably the only thing that will shrink, but that will occur only once....i suggest you just go out and treat yourself to a few new items (as a reward!). new clothes that are made for your new weight will fit and probably feel nicer. also wearing the old ones which may tempt you back to your previous weight as you would have ';room'; to grow!
Only if they're cotton. or linen or wool.
yup its true. follow with a high spin and then tumble dry. however, your not garunteed that the garment will shrink at the same rate, meaning the body might shrink but not the arms. i dont advise you to do this. get the stuff taken in at a tailors.
T shirts will definately shrink on a hot setting but will also make the colours fade and they may shrink in length and be too short for you. Trousers usually shrink in length and jeans may shrink but stretch out again when you wear them. Why not get your clothes altered?
It depends on what material the clothes are made of.
It works on certian fabrics (natural fibres) but it wouldn't work in making your clothes fit. Unless your arms and legs have got shorter as well as thinner.

Hang them on plastic hangers on the shower rod. Place a fan on them to dry over night.:)Any ideas to dry my clothes, its freezing and pouring out side and I washed my cloths, what shall I do now ?
First thing that will help ALOT. Is to let your clothes spin two to three times more(after the first rinse cycle) than you normally would(tried and tested!)

Also try to hang your clothes on hangers in a dry warm area %26amp; close the area off. That should do the trick.
if you have a shower rail or a warm room. place garments on hangers and then hang in door way or on shower rail
if you have a dehumidifier then hang your clothes on hangers , leave the machine on all night and they will be dry by tomorrow. You can drain the water from most of the clothes by rolling them in towels . But the dehumidifier will do the trick

The rinse cycle will remove all traces of the amonia.

Hang them outside on a sunny day, or in front of an open window, if you can't hang them outside.
wash it a couple times. use bleach if you can. use downy simple pleasures if you can
Oxi-Clean (sp?) works really well for mildew smell. If you don't want to go that route, add some baking soda to your wash after letting the clothes sit in a full load of water and cup of white vinegar mix for about an hour.

  • I found maggots in my clothes. if i wash the the clothes will it get rid of the maggots?

Boiling water will kill the maggots, but you have to find the source of the maggots so you get rid of them completely.

Here is a funny blog entry about finding and killing maggots. http://homedeco.geniosity.co.za/2006/02/鈥?/a>I found maggots in my clothes. if i wash the the clothes will it get rid of the maggots?
You probably had spilled a piece of food or something in amongst your clothes which is where the maggots came from. Washing your clothes should remedy the situation.I found maggots in my clothes. if i wash the the clothes will it get rid of the maggots?
My toliet is dripping from base after fushing. Can I just replace the parts in the toliet?
If I were you I would just throw the clothes away. Do you really want to take a chance on wearing the clothes and have bugs crawling on you? Also, pick your clothes up off the floor and clean the room. The bugs must be coming from somewhere and unless you want more you better find out and get rid of them! YUCK!

If every piece of clothing has a different washing instruction for it.....?

...Are we supposed to wash everything seperately if they each have a different instruction? One says ';wash in cold water';, the other says ';wash in warm water';... I was them all together and nothing happens..If every piece of clothing has a different washing instruction for it.....?
I don't follow the instructions, I think the main thing to remember is do not wash colors with whites. Most wash I do is cold except for whites, then I use hot. If I get a new article I might read it and then make up my own mind. I have had many sweaters that said Dry clean only, I have washed them in cold, delicate wash with no problem. Colored wash I try to keep dark colors together, and pastels together sometimes I put white with pastels if I am not using bleach. Hope that helped. If every piece of clothing has a different washing instruction for it.....?
    I wash delicates by hand.

Cold water is the way to go. If you put everything in warm, they may shrink.
I would play it safe and wash them all in cold water.
They both said wash - that is the similiar part. Wash bright colored clothes seperately from whites and lights. and in cold water. Warm and cold are relative...you could wash both in cold or warm just not hot.

Because dishwashers wash dishes, they call them dishwashers. Why aren't normal washers called clothes washers

I know this is a weird question, but one of my friends brought it up, and it got me thinking.Because dishwashers wash dishes, they call them dishwashers. Why aren't normal washers called clothes washers
I don't know, but why do you drive on a parkway and park in a driveway?Because dishwashers wash dishes, they call them dishwashers. Why aren't normal washers called clothes washers
because you can wash any thing you can put into it! there for a washer,
In the beginning long before dishwashers were in existence a mechanized device was invented to wash clothes. It was then labeled as a washing machine. There was no need to distingiush it from a washer for dishes which had not yet been invented.
Clothes washers have been around for a long time. Even if it was the wringing type, lots of people had them. And, they were the only kind of washer people had. So, they just called them washers.

Fast forward a few decades. Now we have dish washers, pressure washers, etc. Since the first washer was a clothes washer, it's understood that just ';washer'; refers to a clothes washer. If it's for washing something else, you say what it washes (or how it washes, for a pressure washer) to distinguish it from a clothes washer.
That's exactly what my family called them when I was a kid. As opposed to a pressure washer, faucet washer, egg washer...
Because it's a washing machine. A washer is a metal disk used under a nut and bolt.

We are finding stains on or clothes after they come out of the wash. We have a new washer.?

We have an older water softener and I'm wondering if it's the problem. The stains are small and clear in colour and very hard to get out. Any ideas on what may be causing these stains? We are finding stains on or clothes after they come out of the wash. We have a new washer.?
Are you adding detergent or fabric softner right onto wet or dry clothing instead of into the water??? That is what it sounds like to me....We are finding stains on or clothes after they come out of the wash. We have a new washer.?
Run empty load with a 1 or 2 cup(s) of white vinegar, Pine Sole, Simple Green or Spc N Span. Cleaning the tub.

If using granular detergent, make sure it is mixed in water prior to adding clothes to the machine. It may be soap globbing.
i bet thats it, hard water stains suck

What removes the mildew odor from clothes when they are left in the wash machine too long?

Even after rewashing, the odor lingers. What removes the mildew odor from clothes when they are left in the wash machine too long?
Have you tried adding a cup of (white/natural)vinegar to the prewash and rewashing it?What removes the mildew odor from clothes when they are left in the wash machine too long?
Maybe it's not your clothes, maybe it's the washing machine.....
You're right. You have to fully dry the clothes and then wash them again.
There are a few things you can do: 1) Add a cup or two of white vinegar to your wash cycle along with your laundry detergent; or 2) Add 1 1/2 cups of baking soda to the wash cycle along with the laundry detergent; or 3) place the dried clothes in a large plastic garbage bag. Add a full bag of Kitty Litter to the bag. Shake it around to mix it all up and leave it to remove the odor for 2 to 3 days. Shake off the kitty litter and dispose of it. Launder the garments again. All should be sweet and clean now!

If my mom washed my hunting clothes in normal detergent would i have to wash it in scent killing deteregent.?

or could i just spray my scent killing spray on it.If my mom washed my hunting clothes in normal detergent would i have to wash it in scent killing deteregent.?
NO, just hunt like you know what your doing.... and use the wind like your suppose to... keep it in your face and you do just fine.....If my mom washed my hunting clothes in normal detergent would i have to wash it in scent killing deteregent.?
I have seen so many commercails about different scent killers that i'm tired of seeing them. No, you don't need to do anything specail. Turkey is about the only season that is coming up in most places right now. Scent control is not a major issue with them.

Then after the bird is in the freezer wash your clothes like you would any pair af blue jeans, fold them up, and put them in a suitcase with some cedar or pine needles. This fall you'll be good to go.

Fred Bear, one of the finest hunters in the last 100 years, used to get out of an old pickup, smelling of exuast fumes and gasoline and shot whitetails with a recurve bow, all the time wearing a red flannel shirt.

Your hunting knowledge and being aware of wind/light conditions will take you much farther than anything you can buy in a can.
You can really do what you want, however, you will have more luck just by watching the wind where you hunt. Most of the products on the market today are gimmicks. You can never really be scent free.

I hunt predators almost exclusively. A coyote's nose is much more sensitive than a whitetail deer, and I have never used any cover scent or subscribed to the theory of carbon-infused clothing to help me be successful.

Guys who pioneered the predator calling industry like Murray Burnham and Jim Dougherty were extremely good at what they did 50 years ago before we even heard about scent killers.

Hunt with the sun at your back, the wind either in your face or a cross wind and you will have a good possibility of success. If it makes you feel better to use a spray on scent killer, by all means, do it!

    Good Luck!

    Tim

PS: Well I guess you can 'spank upwards' all you want, but I would like to see what you base your post on other than what you read. I have spent the last 32 years calling predators, and 20 years of bowhunting whitetail deer in between. I have called coyotes to within 10 feet of me that did not know I was there until I shot them, and deer that have stared me down in a treestand at 10 yards, and went back to eating after I didn't move. I have never washed my clothes in 'hunter formulas' or 'scent killers' but like I said, Whatever floats your boat......
OI!!! Too bad you can't spank upwards, huh?

Yeah, normal detergent have ';whiteners'; these make clothes look whiter and shinier. THE DIRECT OPPOSITE that you want for your hunting clothes. You'll be lit up like the Vegas strip to all those wild critters.

You will need to rewash in a hunting preparation. These not only get rid of the whiteness but also the pretty flowery scent. It's not THAT expensive and can be found at Bass Pro or other hunting enthusiast stores.

I gave you a few links, but these are by far not the only options...
I don't use those scent killing detergents or scent block and I don't use camouflage, but I do bag a deer every year. Now I'm not saying camouflage doesn't work, it does. I'm just to cheap to buy it. Just keep in mind which way the wind is blowing (in your face)

    Good luck hunting next season
I'd probably wash them in baking soda and hang them outside for a day or two (not overnight)

What hunting season is going on that you need scent control for?

Obvouisly turkey is very soon - but you don't need to worry about scent.

    Same with groundhogs.
No, I don't use that crap. You don't think the deer can't smell the chemicals in it?

Hang your hunting cloths with a few fresh cut pine boughs.
Yes smelling clean can be much worse then being filthy.

Which do you think occurs more in the outdoors? A fruity soapy smell or a musky sweat stench.
Nah, just stuf it in a bag with pine needles for a while.
instead get her to wash it in baking sodaand also brush your teeth in it too

  • Do you wear your clothes more than once before giving it a wash?

Or do you wear it once then give it a wash?Do you wear your clothes more than once before giving it a wash?
I never wear anything except my pants, coats and bathrobe more than once before washing them.Do you wear your clothes more than once before giving it a wash?
All underwear and shirts are once and washed. Skirts are two or three times since they have less body contact. Jeans and trousers are tricky- depends how hot the weather is I guess ;-)
1] single use only - [ things you sweat on etc. ] some bras, panties, socks, most tops [ inner layers ], hospital uniforms

2] multiple use [ unless soiled obviously ] - some bras, jeans, pants, shorts, skirts, sweaters, hoodies, jackets, robes,

Washing clothes too often will make them wear faster.
I wear clothes untill they are dirty

that might be 1 day or 1 week or 1 month

Using your washing machine to wash clothes (that are essentially still clean) every day when they could easly have been worn again, is a waste of energy that I thought the world is running out of.

I bet if you all had to go down to a stream and rub your clothes up and down a wash board or bang them with a stone You would all want to wear them for a second day. But no lets just throw them in the machine its so easy.

But wait I know some people that don't. they take it all to the dry cleaners instead !!

They thought it was so good that I still bought washables and did it in my own machine !!!

I know you think I must smell, don't I care what others think?

Well no I don't care what you all think, I only care about the people sitting next to me and believe me they can't tell.

So I will continue to save energy where ever I can, that means dirty stuff only on a full load.
    depends on the item.

anything that directly touches the skin (underwear, bra, camisole, socks, etc.) is a one-shot deal.

anything else is subject to interpretation. Jeans, I can wear those for up to a week, tee shirts, not so much - at the most, I wear the tee-shirt during the day then sleep in it and change into fresh things in the morning.
well i do it my way....if its jeans i wear it two times and then wash

if its a shirt/skirt/dress pants than i wash it after wearing it once.
I wear my jeans and jean shorts twice before I wash them, but everything else I wash after one time wearing them or else I just feel dirty from wearing them.
I'll wear jeans twice before washing them but otherwise, I only wear things once and then wash them. I don't feel clean if my clothes aren't.
I wear jeans twice. Everything else--just once.
usually i wash my pants and shirt after two times but i wash the shirt right away if it has a stain

What clothes can't be washed in regular laundry?

today I washed my new sweater in the laundry and it shrinked beyond believe, now it's ruined! What clothes can't be washed in regular laundry?
Sorry dude. Not every article of clothing can withstand the harsh/aggressive environment of a washing machine. Some fabrics are more delicate and need to be lovingly stroked with your hands. Plus sweaters shouldn't ever go in the dryer. Spread it out over a bed/chair and let it dry in it's natural form. What clothes can't be washed in regular laundry?
any item that says on the label hand wash only

Accidentally put my phone in the washing machine with my clothes....?

its a Sony Ericsson W810i.It still powers up after leaving it on the radiator all night but the screen is just blank or sometimes white.

Any advice on properly drying it out as the radiator has been tried and got the phone coming back on but not the display working 100%.

What chances its gone for good??Accidentally put my phone in the washing machine with my clothes....?
well you wont get any dirty calls nowAccidentally put my phone in the washing machine with my clothes....?
    Hi

You will have to get a new phone as if phones get wet than they will not work as one of my friends had an operation on her arm as she fell and it was out of place so she had a cardigan on with the pocket on the front and it fell out into the toilet so she had to get it out and she took it to to a company who makes things which are broken and they said that it was really broken and they could not fix it so she has now bought a new phone.
okay omgg i had the samee problem :|

what i done is i kept my phone continuesly on the radiator for like 3days and it started working fine.

i carnt live widout my fone tho so i had to use a old one wid my sim.

nd also after that open it up and patt it dry :) inside near the battery etc. x
Ok dont turn it on or you could fry the circutry, get a sealed container then place some uncooked rice in the container with the device inside, seal the container and leave for afew days and check if ok.The rice draws all the moisture from the device without opening and is very effective. thankyou hope i helped
If you would have left it off for a few days and not put it on the heater you might have saved it.

An electronic device ONLY fries when wet if you turn it on.

FOR EVERYONE OUT THERE READING THIS:

JUST LEAVE IT SHUT OFF FOR A FEW DAYS IN A COOL, DRY PLACE AND IT WILL BE FINE!

The second you turn it on when moist or expose it to heat when you try to dry it out... It is gone.

I've been trying to tell people this for years but no one wants to listen... Sigh...
have you tried a hair dryer, what i would consider doing had it not been so long after being exposed to water would be to place it in a bowl of alcohol, then blow dry it, but most likely its gone
Well use cotton buds to dry off any excess wetness.

Take the phone just apart, and put it under a 40 Watt bulb for 24 hours.

If that still does not solve the problem - get a new one.
    eeer
    Whoops!
It's toast , go get a new one...
    my dear get anew one

Portable Clothes Washer? Has anyone used a Haier portable washing machine? Does it work well?

I do not have an option for a washer with permanent fixtures in my apartment. It just can't be done. Is this portable one decent? Any problems?

Portable Clothes Washer? Has anyone used a Haier portable washing machine? Does it work well?
We had a Haier in our old apartment because the place was old and did not have a washer/dryer. I'm assuming this is the one you hook up to the sink? That's what we did anyways. We used it for about a year before moving. They WORK, but it wasn't fun. Some problems I had:

    - Instructions were poor/confusing and had a difficult time understanding how the thing worked.

    - Adapter wouldn't fit onto faucet, tried to contact Haier. Support was incredibly poor/unresponsive, had to go to Ace Hardware and purchase appropriate adapters after asking the people there.

    - Water would sometimes leak from hoses due to adapters, the ';expelling'; hose fell off the sink once or twice and spilled dirty water all over the floor.

    - Handles only a small load, making laundry take a lot longer than you're used to.

    - Large/heavy items (blankets, comforters, coats, big pairs of jeans) won't work in the washer. They generate too much force when spinning and the washer shuts down or else gets stuck repeating the rinse cycle again and again until you abort the wash.

    - No dryer means that you have to hang your clothes out to dry. This takes a lot longer than one would expect (we used a fan to help speed up the process) and makes your clothes kind of stiff.

We survived with it, but it was quite a hassle (it was our only option, and it IS cheaper than paying for a laundry service). We sold it to the new tenants who moved in after us. They had a cat. The cat chewed through one of the hoses though, so they couldn't use it anymore without a replacement hose. They eventually opted for a laundry service instead.

That was our experience. Be forewarned.Portable Clothes Washer? Has anyone used a Haier portable washing machine? Does it work well?
i have a set of ';apartment'; sized washer and dryer. they happen to be whirlpool, i am not familiar with the brand you mentioned. mine work great, they just do smaller loads. the washer hooks up to the kitchen sink (and drains into it) and the dryer is 110 so it plugs into any outlet.
my sister has an apartment and she has a ';real'; washer so sorry but im not sure if they work well or not.

    How to wash baby clothes?

    Hello ladies.

    I'm almost 29 weeks preg

My mum already bought me loads of stuff for the baby..

I'm planning to start washing and putting away things.

Can you give me some tips..

I know that I must use non-bio washing and no more that 30deg.. Can I use softer? Which one?

Do I need to use some other products i.e. napisan? How to wash baby clothes?
Use Fairy Non Bio. They also do a fabric softener. Available from any supermarket. I used this will my daughter's clothes when she was a baby and not a single rash, itch or reaction to it. Very gentle. How to wash baby clothes?
I've always used any non-bio washing detergent and conditioner/softener.

Persil non-bio is good and so is fairy conditioner or comfort pure which are both recommended for washing baby clothes with. I've also tried supermarket own brands which are just as good and a lot cheaper.

There is no reason to add anything else to the laundry unless there is heavy soiling/staining which can sometimes be a pain to get out.

As for temperature, I've always washed clothes at 40c, higher temps may be needed if clothes are stained and can handle hotter temperatures.

Hope this helps a bit and congrats with the baby!
They have this baby detergent called dreft or something like that. It has no harsh chemicals or anything like that. You wont need softener for it and I wouldn't use it right now anyways because a new born baby's skin is very sensitive. It is a lil bit more expensive then regular detergent but moat moms feel more comfortable with it but if you compare it to plain tide it is almost exactly the same thing and it would cost you less which is a good thing because babies are very expensive. I used dreft at first then switched to tide very shortly after. Good luck and I hope this helped.
I use Dreft. I think it smells really good, and it's very gentle for babies skin....I also soak and prewash all his dirty clothes (especially his bibs and things with spit up and formula) in Oxyclean. It works fantasically for taking out the spit up/dribble stains, and keeps his whites white, and his colors nice and bright, after I wash everything in oxyclean I rewash everything in dreft so It doesn't irritate his skin. Hope this helped, congrats and good luck
Always use non-bio washing detergent for your baby's clothing. I found fabric softeners too harsh for my babies skin so used a capful of white vinegar instead - is a great fabric softener and leaves no residue or smell on the clothes - much cheaper than using fabric softener.

    good luck with your baby
it should say on the tag of the clothes but what you have said there is Pretty much it for most baby clothes. I still use very soft stuff in to the washing machine try different things at first to which suits you and the baby. good luck

  • Would hot water (120 degrees), kill MRSA if you washed the clothes in the washer?

Clothing should be washed in 160 degree water using detergent and bleach then dried in high heat. But depending on what materials the blankets are made of, this may ruin them.

The likelihood of the baby blankets carrying MRSA can depend on the site of your mother's infection and MRSA can infect the nose (most common), respiratory tract, eye, ears, skin, wound beds, urine and blood. It also depends on the precautions she takes to prevent transmission to others. If you don't know the site of infection or how good her hand hygiene is, ask her.

MRSA can survive outside the body for up to 2 weeks depending on the surface it's on. You could when the blankets arrive just put on a pair of gloves and hang the blankets up somewhere for 2-3 weeks. You can wash them after that. But if you just can't stomach the idea of using them, be forthright and tell your mother your concerns. It may hurt her at first but better that than to deceive her into thinking you're actually using it. MRSA isn't THAT contagious.

And I suppose you could always ask her to buy some online and have them shipped to you.Would hot water (120 degrees), kill MRSA if you washed the clothes in the washer?
I would err on the safe side and say no and I assume you mean 120 degrees F. To thoroughly clean clothes that may contain traces MRSA, you should soak the clothes in alcohol. The local drug store should have rubbing alcohol you could buy.

You may need mutiple bottles to completely soak the article of clothing. After soaking them, I would put them through a normal wash cycle to get the alcohol off.

If you think you have come in contact with it you should wash yourself with disinfectant soap and may consider calling your doctor.

Good luck!Would hot water (120 degrees), kill MRSA if you washed the clothes in the washer?
i dont think 120 will suffice .Most your new front loaders have an internal water heater .. you need a sanatizer of some sort ..lysol has a concentrate ..kills 99.99 % of bacteria.bleach is a bit harsh . good luck sweety .

personally , i would put blankets in a plastic trash bag after being sprayed with aresol lysol , leave for a couple of days . then wash .
No- this is an extremely virulent strain. My guess would be that you'd have to wash the clothes in bleach.

Here is a link which I think will provide you with some valuable info:

    http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dhqp/ar_mrsa_h鈥?/a>
MRSA can resist antibiotics so I think it can live through hot water. Its serious stuff.

Can you wash Towels with Clothes?

Or is it not a good idea?

Do they need to be washed separately? Can you wash Towels with Clothes?
You can but you will get a lot of lint on your clothes and you have to remember towels are heavier and therefore will cause your clothes to wear faster.

Towels also dry slower so you are basically cooking your clothes in the dryer while waiting for the towels to dry.

It really is best to sort your laundry. Can you wash Towels with Clothes?
I wash my towels with the rest of my laundry all the time. It's fine.

The only recomendation I would give is to consider colorfastness, especially if the towels are new and/or a dark color. They will ';bleed'; a lot of dye the first few washings, even in cold water and that can stain your other clothes.
I do- when I'm washing light or white clothes. But you'll want to watch out for lint, if the towels are relatively new.

Now, if you have someone in the house that is ill, you will want to wash the towels separately in hot water.
no you shouldn't. towels are your personal thing. and regular clothes should be washed seperatly.. believe me. when i washed them together i had to re wash them because the smell got into the clothes. i know its kind of weird but thats how it could get..
Wash them separately. If not, you risk having the towels shed themselves all over your clothes. I NEVER wash them together.
I always do my towels with the rest of my clothes but always in my darks load incase they do bleed no worries they always turn out fine.
Yes you can--But most people i know if they have a big load, will keep them separated no harm done your choice. Gianni
I mix towels with other loads, but not if something in the laundry is real dirty, like muddy jeans.
    My French Maid separates them
i wash my towels separately, not sure why, just do

Help!!!! My roommate washed a load of my white clothes, poured tons of bleach directly on them.?

my sports bras lost most of the elasticity. And afew things are now yellow! Isn't there a way I can get them to ';snap'; back to the original snug fit???Help!!!! My roommate washed a load of my white clothes, poured tons of bleach directly on them.?
Sorry! Bleach eats elastic. You will need to get new ones. The yellowing may fade out with time but there is no quick fix. You could try re washing them without anything but water, use the full wash and rinse cycle to see if that helps.Help!!!! My roommate washed a load of my white clothes, poured tons of bleach directly on them.?
No dearie - sorry. They are goners in the elasticity dept.
Yikes a profile picture shows a guy and wants to know about bras??????
Nope, Get El Stupo' who washed your stuff to replace them. ;(
You can make your roommate buy you new clothes =)
    not really
Gone. It's better to replace the items.

You could wash the stuff and add a gallon of white vinegar to the wash water - nothing else - but it won't put the elasticity back. It only will help remove the chlorine residue. Then you have to wash it all again with detergent to remove the vinegar smell.
The sad answer is that bleach changes the fibers so if you get bleach on a red shirt for example, the fabric has changed and you can never get that spot out EVER.

The same will go for elastics, too, unfortunately.
SORRY BUT NO BLEACH IS THE #1 KILLER OF RUBBER AND COTTON LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE YOU NOW GET TO GO SHOPPING AND BUY NEW.

Why is it so hard to wash the stink out of men's clothes?

I do my own laundry no problem but right now I am trying to wash some of my boyfriend's clothes and they still smell. Why is it so hard to wash the stink out of men's clothes?
Add a cup of white vinegar and it will do the job. You can even put some right in the fabric softener dispenser if you want. The vinegar smell goes away but it's great for removing tough odors from laundry. I use it on my outdoor dogs bedding and her sweaters and jackets ( yes I dress her, she doesn't have a lot of hair) it goes in smelling just awful and it comes out smelling like fresh clean laundry. If it can clean her smell it can clean his!Why is it so hard to wash the stink out of men's clothes?
if it's body odor, try mixing amonia with water in the washer, then add the clothes after it's mixed and let them soak. you know when you have like a favorite shirt you wear all the time and the armpit starts getting a funk cause your deodorant doesn't fully wash out? mixing amonia water in a spray bottle and spraying the problem area works AMAZING. give it a try. just DO NOT MIX IT WITH BLEACH! amonia and bleach makes fumes that can be fatal. good luck : )

ps... i would wash them w. the mixture, then after the cycle is complete i would re-rinse them with good fabric softener like downy april fresh
Sprinkle a little bit of cascade powder into the washing machine. Add your regular detergent and wash. It takes the smells right out. It has taken the smell out of laundry that set wet for several days as well as sweaty football clothes.
Add baking soda to the wash cycle but let the clothes soak in the mix for a while before starting the agitation.

Is it true Chuck Norris can,t wash his clothes in the ocean anymore?

like he gives a f*ck?Is it true Chuck Norris can,t wash his clothes in the ocean anymore?
Yeah, so he has to be normal and use a washing machine

    *sigh* Normal is so overrated.
lol I love these Chuck Norris things.

Do people really need organic clothes? Can't the pesticides in regular clothes just be washed out?

Yes, but there is still the issue of the way cotton is grown.

The pesticides as well as the dyes used on regular cotton hurt the environment.

Oh, and don't fall for bamboo clothing, it takes a lot more dye to create clothing from it.

True organic clothes are colored with vegetable dyes, or simply come in pale colors.Do people really need organic clothes? Can't the pesticides in regular clothes just be washed out?
That's why 'organic' clothes are a bad idea. The pesticides that are allowed to be used in growing them are worse than what is typically used in scientific agriculture. Report Abuse
Do people really need organic clothes? Can't the pesticides in regular clothes just be washed out?
Washing out pesticides means they went somewhere, and that is probably into the streams and rivers and lakes and ocean. They don't just disappear. Most pesticides these days though, break down within a reasonable amount of time in the sun/air/water unlike DDT which is still around and very toxic many many years later. I think the two main issues with organic clothes as with organic anything are 1) human health and 2) environmental health.

Human health is affected through applying the pesticide, through the runoff of the pesticide into the water and dispersion into the air. Also residues can be a problem if the product that the pesticide is applied to, isn't allowed sit long enough for the pesticide to degrade. You can get residues on the product which are tested for, but not 100%. There was that ginger recall not too long ago? Also that pet food recall with the rat poison which is a pesticide? Those were pesticide health issues and those pesticides couldn't be washed off.

The second issue is the environmental issue. Pesticides get into the air, the water and destroy plants and insects and mammals, which aren't what they are intended to kill or harm. Washing out pesticides kills them too. Again, pesticides have to *go* somewhere. California Condors were almost driven to extinction by DDT although that was a direct application to something else. It could have been applied to cotton for clothes, who knows? It was the application, not the end product that caused the problem.

Anywho, cotton is a pretty pesticide-intensive crop because of the boll weevil and some other insects too. Alright, enough of me babbling! I hope this gives you a better feel for pesticides in general and where they go and why they may be a problem!
Organic clothes are good. i would just stick to the regular clothes. I have no choice!
    No. It doesn't matter.

Regular clothes do less damage to the environment because they need less land for the material they are made of to be grown (or not grown, in the case of synthetics).
Only if your a paranoid hypochondriac
Most synthetic fabrics, from towels to dress shirts to bed linens, are treated with chemicals during and after processing. These chemicals not only leach into the environment, leaving an impact on groundwater, wildlife, air and soil, but they also may be absorbed or inhaled directly.

If you are very sensitive to chemicals, you may want to seek out organic fabrics. Even natural fabrics, such as cotton, are treated with pesticides while they are grown, and some of those pesticides will remain in the fibers. Organic fabrics are becoming more widely available and can be found in health food markets, specialty shops and online.

Here's a great site for organic clothing. there are many of these but this one has some cool stuff.

It never washes out completely. And what we do wash out ends up in our drinking water supply, rivers, and oceans.

Most people who buy organic are doing it for the lower impact on the environment and not for themselves.

Some organics are good, some are not.

Some are home grown, others come from half a world away.

Some use synthetic dyes, some use natural dyes.

Some benefit local fair trade communities, others are sweatshop.

    Nothing is perfect.
The problem with the pesticides isn't as much the residue that's left in the clothes, but what is running off from applying the pesticide to the crop into the groundwater. You know, the stuff we need to drink to support life?

  • How to wash and take care of velvette clothes?

It is not recommended that you ';wash'; that material.

It needs to be dried cleaned.

If you wash it, it will clump up making it look wrinkled.

:-)How to wash and take care of velvette clothes?
Velvet needs dry cleaning or hand wash in tepid water. Velveteen is durable and gives good feel. It has tendency to shrink and can be washed in both ways but in cool water. Both fabrics require steam pressing at warm setting but on the wrong side. How to wash and take care of velvette clothes?
It depends on the type or backing of the velvet. If the fabric is cotton, I would recommend dry cleaning. If the backing is polyester, go ahead and wash it on the gentle cycle and dry it in the dryer on low. Comes out looking brand new.
Dry clean only and never iron velvet

While washing my husband's t-shirt color from another clothe spread to t-shirt.how can i get rid of that color

If the t-shirts are 100% cotton, soak in diluted Clorox water, then launder as usual. Or you may try Ritz, color remover, follow instructions on package. If t-shirts are a polyester blend, color stains will be difficult to remove. While washing my husband's t-shirt color from another clothe spread to t-shirt.how can i get rid of that color
