How can a politician justify a family using the local laundry mat to wash their clothes. But when they finish

they load the family into a 2005 Suburban, spinner rims, tinted windows, leather upholsterphy, tricked out chrome trim, %26amp; a whole lot more. This vehicle must cost around $30,000.00. Plus the damn thing is a gas hog.

Seeing this, I wonder, did her washing machine break. Well that would be my first guess.

Then I would make my politically correct assumption. She and her family milk my social services system. They live in a home with 20 other family member, half of whom don't have papers to be in this country. Those half members receive social benefits. The husband works but claims head of household without the wife to claim all the EIC credit for income tax. The wife recieves food stamps for not working and claiming herself disabled, boom Social Security benefits...$600.00 per month.

This goes on and on. As an American, I am sick and tires of these leaches. Let's kick out the ones with no papers and send them back to wherever their sorry a_s country exists....How can a politician justify a family using the local laundry mat to wash their clothes. But when they finish
Don't hate.your just assuming stuff. My mom works two jobs and I work one while also still going to college, yet we all still do our laundry in the local laundry mat.The reason being is that we just don't wish to buy one.Have you thought that maybe those people actually saved their money to buy that car or that perhaps they are still paying for it?Like my english teacher use to tell us.never assume anything cause it just makes you look like an @ss.Instead of being bitter and wishing what others have and making excuses as to why you don't have those things, why don't you sit down and look at your life and make some changes to it so that you can also have all those things.I'm sure if you didn't buy so much beer or junk food you would save enough to buy a much better car in a short time. How can a politician justify a family using the local laundry mat to wash their clothes. But when they finish
Amen to that. Its funny I worked as a cashier when I was a teenager and they used to come in and buy all this junk food/frozen food , the bill would be almost 300 and then they would pay with their foodstamp card. A few minutes later I would have some little old lady in line that would have to put stuff back because she couldn't afford it all on her fixed income.
If they need a big car then what you want a bus
Your mind works funny. If I had seen that, I would have thought: What a bunch of dummies. They blew their money on a gas hog, status symbol and can't afford a washer. Immediately afterward I would have concluded they were drug dealers or pimps. Drug dealers don't sink money into objects they can't flee with.
Maybe her washing machine DID break down. You don't know if she is on welfare or even illegally here! Like someone else said, maybe the family is there on vacation. Why jump to conclusions when you have no facts? You just made up a story to fit one incident. Guessing is not facts....Also, If they had a large family, it might have been less time consuming to go to a laundromat to wash their clothes all at one time using several machines than one load at a time at home.

And, ..what the heck does a politician have to with a family washing their clothes in a d@mn laundromat???? Smoked that weed a lot, didn't you? You seem to have lost a few billion brain cells somewhere
I live in a part of the country where houses are avg $400,000, and a lot of ppl rent (myself included). My apartment community doesn't have w/d in the apartments, and though there are laundry facilities, sometimes it's just easier to take it all to the landromat and do it all at once. If ppl want to spend money on tricking out their cars instead of on a $2500/month mortgage, that's their business, not yours.

If they go as a family (sisters or mom and daughter), rather than alone, b/c their car is bigger and holds more stuff and it's easier to keep track of kids, that's also none of your business. I hate going to the 'mat alone, but I have to b/c I can't take my 2-yr old with me, so I leave him at home w/ hubby. He's too busy for me to watch him and the washers...

So please, take your presumptions about other people's lives and stick them up your misguided, bigoted a**...
By your own admission, only one part of your question is not an ASSUMPTION. Someone with a 2005 Suburban went to a laundry-mat. How is that any politicians fault? I agree there are too many people receiving too much welfare, but this is NOT the way to argue the point. BTW, this is not a 'politically correct' assumption.
How can we fix other countries (Iraq) when we can't even take care of our problems at home? Bush is complete moron. An ape could have ran this country better! His whole campaign and existance is a joke.

American wants to help all those in need for PR, because it looks good. What about my grandmother who is 83 and has one leg? She can get $10.00 a month. This is true! That is what the government offered her, citing she made too much social security per month to recieve aid (she makes $750 a month). How pathetic is it that people who are here illegally can get more aid? They even made a spanish version to OUR national anthem. Did anyone ask China to produce a Russian version? No, because their native language is Chinese...DUH!

I am so tired of this nation bending for aliens, it makes me sick! I get so irritated when I see a commericial in nothing but Spanish showing in my small town in Indiana. I get telemarketing calls on my cell phone with not one word of English! Does it p*ss me off, HELL YES!
You see someone at a laundramat and think they are getting welfare? C'mon, if they are illegal they cannot buy a house. If they cannot buy a house they either have to rent a house or an apartment, most of the time they dont have washer/dryers. So you have to go to the laundramat. Maybe they worked for years saving up to buy their fancy truck, or had the whole family working towards it. You shouldnt assume things, and you shouldnt spread stereotypes when you have no idea what their actual situation is. Next time ask them!
eEverything you just said is the truth!!!!!!!! My sister is married to a legal Mexican and they too, do not have a washer or dryer. They have been washing their clothes at the laundromat for over 20 years. Why? Because of the cost to operate them (electric bill) oh, and because he can't seem to break down and buy a washer and dryer. He's too busy sending all of his money back home to Mexico to his mother.

BTW, they live in an apartment that HAS washer and dryer connections. He's just too cheap to buy them!
If the local laundromat is privately owned, then it's no different than the family eating out at a restaurant rather than cooking at home.

How does that affect your social services system, unless the laundromat is owned or subsidized by the city or county.
I agree
Wow, sounds like you got your hate on for the 'Burban, there...

What do you drive, a Mazda? LOL
You failed to mention the free health care, education, no or very little tax and general assistance. It's a legal crime in this country of ours, time we changed it, elections are coming up so vote those dirty politicians out and get some with gumption enough to stand up for their constituents rights and change the laws.
exactly. the apartment i used to live in was a nice place in 1999. by 2006 they turned it into a dump. no good comes from that. and to the person with the redneck comment....wow how stereotypical. im against the illegals and im a democrat. most american dems are.... think before talking.
Washing machines are expensive and they are expensive to run. Some people don't see a need in having them. Some people don't have the room for them in their house. In college and a year after I used a laundromat and I was not on any government programs. This is one of the dumbest questions I've ever heard by the way.
LOL I couldnt have said it better myself
I am willing to bet you are exaggerating the case and do not even know the family.
Did you ever go to a Illegal Hispanic neighborhood. The car mechanics are all illegal. They sell stolen parts for like nothing. A lot of illegals drive stolen cars too. They're are other scams too..like discontinued cars. Did you ever notice a lot of illegals drive Grand Cherokee Limiteds and Nissan Maximas....hmmm
If you become paranoid then you will see problems under every rock. You don't know, you assumed .. I hope you were wrong.
I agree whole heartedly, you see this expensive cars sitting outside the section 8 housing or houses that are literally falling down around the occupants ears but they don't do a damn thing about it. But yet they get all of this money and over 90% of the family members are illegal.
The family may also have been on vacation.
You're most likely a redneck who got rejected by a cute Hispanic girl.

How should u wash bras without them getting all tangled together or caught on other clothes?

You can buy special ';lingerie bags';, usually in a department store in the Bra Department (Victoria Secret has them). However, I purchased small ';inside'; pillow covers. You know the white or beige cloth that you cover your couch pillows with before you put on your designer cover- can be purchase just about anywhere pillows are sold or at a fabric store. I place my bras inside these for washing. get creative and I am sure you can use this info to make it work. How should u wash bras without them getting all tangled together or caught on other clothes?
There are ';Bra Balls'; available but most times easier found on line. The bra goes in the ball and locks shut. Throw it in the washer and dryer with no tangling or catching on other clothes. They also preserve the shape. Bras are expensive. The major problem using lingerie bags or just throwing them in on their own is they wind up misshapen and then are difficult if impossible to re-shape. The balls are inexpensive. How should u wash bras without them getting all tangled together or caught on other clothes?
I normally hook each bra together, separately that is.

For example, hook one bra in the back and keep doing so to each bra separately.

This will keep your clothing from getting tangled.

*If this is confusing, feel free to email me (kaylamaro@yahoo.com) and I will be happy to give you step-by-step instructions*
These should really be washed by hand with a good mild soap like woolite. Air dried as well. If your in a hurry and don't want to take the time you could always get a special net bag but, i don't think they would come out as clean and colorful.
Lingerie bags from almost ever lingerie store or you might find them in a grocery store. They look like small mesh laundry bags with a plastic closure.

some stupid link my sister bookmarked months ago.
just wash only one bra at a time.

What should i wash my 15 month old twin daughters clothes in one has eczema?

only just been diagnosed and i was wondering what i should change in her diet as wellWhat should i wash my 15 month old twin daughters clothes in one has eczema?
I use Dreft for mine with eczema. You may also want to talk to her Dr. and be referred for allergy testing . My son was tested at 14 months and showed a allergy to eggs and soy. My baby is 8 months and he goes next week for testing, for food allergy's. I also use eucerin cream, the kind in the jar is best for after a bath however I keep a small tube with me at all times. Prewashing all new cloths and blankets will help too. Keeping a log of what she eats for a week and also wright down when her breakouts get worse may help you see if her food is making it worse. If she gets hot and sweaty she may breakout . These breakouts can be very itchy and uncomfortable. What should i wash my 15 month old twin daughters clothes in one has eczema?
Ivory Snow is really the best. And don't use a fabric softener sheet in the dryer, use a non-allergenic liquid in the washer if you must use something.

Talk to your dermatologist or a nutritionist about any foods which may affect her skin.
My son has eczema and I usually wash his clothes in regular detergent, but buy the dye- and perfume-free versions. We like Arm and Hammer Free or All Free.

His eczema improves considerably in the summer and worsens in the winter. The one thing that definitely irritates it is bubble baths. Maybe it's too much drying soap. Regular baths are fine and we just use the yellow Johnson's baby bath for him on a washcloth and then rinse.

We didn't make any dietary changes for his skin, but I am interested in seeing if others have seen some significant benefits by changing their child's food. Best wishes.
A milder diet can help - but we've been using goat's milk soap - like Zum Bar - and it's been very dramatic how much better all my family's skin is. Available online and in healthfood stores.

Natural laundry detergent helps too. No powered laundry soap!
ummm eczema is no big deal i actually have it and im ok and its pretty under controlled thank god. i use this very good cream the only thing peolple with eczema tend to have very delicate skin and i advice you wash the baby's clothes with unscented products also no lotions with perfume due to sensitve skin but the diet no its ok just feed her nomally

but if you do have more questions the best thing you can do is . ask your doctor and he will know. tk and congrats and god bless
You could buy sensitive washing poiwder or liquid but it can be rather expensive. My daughter also has Eczema and I just use ordinary washing powder. Don't use soap on her skin though it will dry it out more, and also use a moisturiser on her every time you think of it. Socks on hands work well. Sometimes milk can make it worse so maybe try a soy milk and see if that helps.
wash her clothes and sheets and towels in the most mild and natural soup you can find on the market-something simple-lux flakes-there should be natural products on the supermarket or if failing that-health shop-and with her diet foods that usually cause allergies can be dairy-wheat- and acid forming foods-and of course anything with nasty colour's and preservatives and additives -junk food-contact a natrapath for more info and also look on the net about it-good luck
Eczema is a skin disorder, so I would wash both girls clothing in a very mild detergent, such as Cheer Free or Dreft for baby, rinse twice and be careful of what you use as a fabric softner. As for diet, I would just make sure they get plenty of water for hydration, that may help with dry skin.

  • What causes clothes to shrink when you wash them?

is it the heat in the dryer???What causes clothes to shrink when you wash them?
It is the heat in the dryer and also agitation. Wool shrinks due to the agitation in the washer and dryer. The wool gets 'felted' and becomes denser. Cotton is also affected by agitation because the thread that cloth is woven or knitted from has been stretched. Bouncing around in the washer or dryer will cause the fibers to contract, especially cheaper fabrics which were stretched more. What causes clothes to shrink when you wash them?
It depends on the type fabric it is. Agitation and hot water cause some cotton fabrics to shrink the first time they are washed. Denims are the main ones that shrink. They only shrink a certain amount then stop.

If the fabric has a wool content, it will shrink in agitation.

Check the labels on the clothes. See if it has a shrink chart on it. Follow the laundry instructions exactly. If it says dry clean, don't try to save money by tossing it in the washer and dryer. If it says hand wash, it means just that. Cold water for handwash is baby bath warm.
Yes ,the heat almost always shrinks clothing, especially shirts.
In both the washer and the dryer you have to follow the direction tags on the clothes or you can shrink in both. Washing a delicate silk on hot is an obvious. Likewise would be drying same on high for cottons. Follow the clothing tag directions and wash and dry accordingly.

Sometimes my washed clothes have a faded reddish (bleach?) stain? Help?

It does not happen everytime but at times all the cloths will be ruined by faded reddish (bleach?) spots. I'm not sure what could be causing it. We haev no bleach in the house, we wash like colors together, (towels and washcloths in one load) still sometimes a whole load will have the reddish faded spots on them. HELP!!!!!Sometimes my washed clothes have a faded reddish (bleach?) stain? Help?
Perhaps you purchase detergent with bleach (i.e. Tide with Bleach)..You can try running the washer on a full cycle before putting the next load in.Sometimes my washed clothes have a faded reddish (bleach?) stain? Help?
It could be rust from water line or hot water tank, or mud from well water.

Try this: Rinse in cold water. Pretreat any dark/heavy stains, then rinse again.

Wash the garments in chlorine bleach or an all-fabric bleach in hot water. Hang outside or somewhere they can air dry.
I do know that when it happens to my towels it is from toothpaste. any toothpaste that is supposed to whiten teeth bleaches my hand towels from wiping your mouth. I don't have the answer for the rest of the laundry but the same thing happens to me, i don't use bleach or detergent with bleach, i don't have well water either and the clothes are never heavily stained. the funny reddish ';bleach'; spots come up on the weirdest places that are really never dirty areas to begin with. I aways rinse in cold water too. I could use the help. It is a laundry mystery.

How should one wash one's ACU and PT clothes?

How often do you usually wash the ACU and the PT? Can you get more then one outfit?

And specific instructions to washing and drying? Detergent? Fabric softener? Ironing? How should one wash one's ACU and PT clothes?
For the ACUs you should take off all the patches, zip everything up and turn them inside out. Make sure to use a detergent that does not contain bleach and I personally don't use fabric softener. Dry them on low or medium. We wash all the ACUs and PT stuff together. There are instructions on the labels. How should one wash one's ACU and PT clothes?
You get issued four sets of ACUs, normally. You can get away with wearing the same set for five duty days in winter, since you wear t-shirt and underwear underneath, unless you get greasy at the motor pool. Summers are hotter and you're going to want to change more often than that.

You are supposed to wash them in detergents without ';optical brighteners'; because ACUs are designed to be infrared neutral. Additives in some detergents will make you glow in the dark on infrared. I usually stick with the off-brand woolite they sell at the PX/BX. Works great, doesn't smell like chemical flowers, doesn't irritate my skin, best of all, doesn't mess up that infrared thing.

    PTs, it doesn't much matter.

Just don't use bleach on anything but your white socks.
for your ACUs machine wash, i do it on permanant press cycle.. with warm water, and mild detergant.. or you could even hand wash them but dont wring them out or twist.. dont use clhorine bleach or startch and dry on low.. thats what i do for my marpats (marines)

for PT clothes, i do it like all other clothes, just wash and dry.. thats all.. i think if you look on the inside of your ACU patrol cap.. itll have instructions
wash ACU's like anything else but if you drying is hell on Velcro. on the pockets you dont use the velcro will almost seize together and your name tapes wont stick. i need to replace the velcro on mine because of that fact. some people air dry or just take out of dryer early....

pt gear i wash with everything else.
They have care instructions, but generally just don't dry them on the hottest setting and don't iron them.

How often do you wash your clothes?

Do you throw your shirt or pants straight into the laundry after only wearing it once? What is your routine?

Personally, If I sweat in the shirt in humid weather then I cannot wear it again. But if its a sweater or shirt that I wore for a little bit then its fine. Pants I don't wash until I have worn them a few times.

underwear all the time obviously lol. Bras I hand wash. How often do you wash your clothes?
    Shirts--usually after every wearing

    Sweaters--only when they need it

Jeans--wear them twice before washing, unless they're visibly dirty

    Underwear, bras, socks--every time

PJ's--I'll wear for a few nights before washingHow often do you wash your clothes?
Nightgowns - twice a week or if something gets on them.

Shirts and pants - I do a test on them I call the cleanliness test. I look at them, sniff them, feel them. If they are the same as the last time I put them on, then I'll wear them again (Though not the next day unless I was desperate).

Underwear and bras - Every time I take them off they go in my hamper.

I do my laundry on the weekends.
I wash all inner clothing daily, shirts I'll wear one day (unless it's just for a couple hours, then I hang them on the washroom door to wear again) and jeans...when they get dirty, takes 1-3 days due to my work...I think of myself as having a bit of a clean fetish, I shower twice a day and always like to put on clean clothes, but I always work really hard and get dirty fast too.
I wash one a week or when i need something that is dirty. I usually take whatever i have on in put it in the dirty clothes cause i'm horrible with hanging them back up. My jeans i don't wash that much though.
I do the laundry once a week, probably 4 loads. I usually only wear something once before washing it, but there are exceptions -- my pajamas or night gowns I'll wear every day until laundry day.
I wear a shirt like twice and pants never and underwear never twice

I usually wash all my clothes together like once a month. I got alot of clothes though
I wash my clothes every time I wear them, my husbands and kids too.

T or F: The clothes washer cannot be used to wash kitchen utensils of any kind.?

false, but it won't do a good job.T or F: The clothes washer cannot be used to wash kitchen utensils of any kind.?
    what do you think?

NO!!!T or F: The clothes washer cannot be used to wash kitchen utensils of any kind.?
    Yes,it can...

The liner under your dish drainer, the plastic potscrubber, rubber jar-lid remover gripper thingy,

    cheesecloth used in canning and preserving,potato chip clips,pot holders,refrigerator magnets,etc...to name a few !

Just put the smaller items in a mesh bag with a couple of dish cloths, load the machine with other dish towels, etc.,lots of detergent and bleach...

The dish cloths in the bag do the scrubbing as the machine agitates, the bleach disinfects, the detergent gets the grease film...

But DON'T try to dry them in the dryer !!!
You mean putting pots, pans, egg-turners and spoons in the clothes washer? What on earth sort of test asks this kind of dumb question? I suppose you could put them in a clothes washer if you didn't care about wrecking the untensils or the washer or both. It's a free country and it's your washer. I'm waiting for someone to say they've tried it.
    True

    what are you stupid blonde

    jk

    but sersily dont
Please tell me you are not serious!

Some insects stick on my machine washed clean clothes.Detergent states 99.9% clean, need to rewash clothes?

You don't need to rewash the towels.

Shake the bugs off outside and hang them to air dry THEN put them on the air fluff cycle for 10 minutes.

  • If bright coloured clothes are washed in very cold water will bleach-out be prevented?

Not really. Dyes can bleed in any temperature water. They tend to bleed less in cold water and neutral PH soaps. This will slow down but not prevent non fixed dyes from running or fading.

Why does my wash machine leave blue blotchy stains on my clothes?

I have stained clothes before when the dye has run, but that stains the whole load uniformly, so I don't think that's the cause. Even with cold water and old clothes, occasionally one or two items in the wash will get dark blue (as if from something black) blotchy stains, and the rest of the load will be fine. This happens before they get put in the dryer. What is causing this? Why does my wash machine leave blue blotchy stains on my clothes?
That has happened to me before and it was because the softener had built up in the dispenser. If you are using a blue softener that could be the problem. Or, your rinse cylce is not getting softener out.Why does my wash machine leave blue blotchy stains on my clothes?
Did you wash a pen in the load at one time. The pen could have broke and released the ink into the lines and now when the water comes in so does some of the dye. I had the same problem... we had to call someone to clean it up.
One of the reasons could be that your not putting the soap in correctly and too much soap will stain. Try putting your laundry soap in the machine first and let 2-3 inches of water build at the bottom of the tub, before you put your clothes in. This way the soap has a chance to mix with the water and not imbeded in your clothes.

There was ';Krautrock'; band who released an album with what appeared to be a clothes peg on a washing line?

What was the band and title of the album? There was ';Krautrock'; band who released an album with what appeared to be a clothes peg on a washing line?
FORGET MY BABEL BELOW, HA HA!

It's Amon Duul II's 'Vive La Trance'! I don't know how the heck I overlooked the best known Krautrock band in the world!

I was checking all my obscure LP's, and it never dawned on me that it was this: http://tinyurl.com/224j29

Pig Man is a wicked song!

I've owned this album in various forms over the 30+ years, and I never really noticed the clothes line/peg thing before!

It's actually my favorite album by them too! Well, that's not entirely true, I think the last time I took a close look at what was going on on the cover was back in 1975 or something!

There was a band from the 70's who many people mistook for being a Krautrock band, as their music had a distinct Krautrock sound. They were called 'Far Out'. Only problem, they're not from Germany, they're from Japan. They also had a self titled album with peg holding a glove on a clothes line:

    http://rateyourmusic.com/release/album/f鈥?/a>

To me, Krautrock was a genre that started in the late 60's, and continued throughout the 70's.

80's and 90's German bands playing 'Industrial Rock', 'Ambient', or 'Post Punk' would not be considered 'Krautrock' in most circles.

At the moment I'm stumped. What's funny is the fact that I probably own the album, as I am a huge collector of all things Krautrock.

Does it make you furious when your husband leaves your clothes inside out after washing & ironing them?

I have a maid, hubby's not allowed in the house, he always touches stuff or wants food or whatever. Good luck.Does it make you furious when your husband leaves your clothes inside out after washing %26amp; ironing them?
Maybe he's dyslexic. Be nice.Does it make you furious when your husband leaves your clothes inside out after washing %26amp; ironing them?
Totally! And he's not putting the same care into bathing me or dressing me or anything anymore. I think I need to hire a pool boy to help me with my chores...
I can get away with just about anything but my wife draws the line at clothing. I am not allowed to wash, iron, or even fold her clothes. She won`t even wear clothes that I buy for her. The tramp !
I dont have a husban anymore, but if I did I would smoosh his head in the toilet if he kept wearing my clothes then leaving them inside out..the nerve of him anyway
Well if I was old enough and married, definitely! It would drive me insane! I would probably explain to him at least 1,000 times until he grasped the concept a bit. *sigh* They can never remember these things!
I would never do that if I was your husband. I would make sure everything was perfect so you could look your hottest.
I am happily married to Vick (in da clink). Thankfully he never does that. Our cell block H is always immaculately cleaned, and he makes sure my pin-striped uniform is always stain-free and smelling like Snuggle Country Morning Fresh and Butterflies and Daisies Scent.

I am one lucky woman ....

    :)
    Does a cellmate count?

    Then yes it does.
mine hasn't done any in 30 yrs. if i were you i would be furious too. he needs to be reprimanded immediately.
i guesss it would if i was married. which i'm gald i'm not considering i'm only 12. and how do you mske your avatar the full thing instead of the face?
yes,but then he';d become inside out after my pounding!!
I Iron for her and she dont make one teensy weensy comment.....be happy he's making the effort for you.....
I wish he washed and ironed my clothes!!! I probably wouldn't mind if they were inside out if he actually did them. It's like pulling teeth to get him near the washer and dryer.
No because he doesn't wash mine and I don't wash his.

Don't you love the smell of freshly washed clothes?

Yep, so much so I am envious of people whose clothes smell even better grrrrrr!

Don't you love the smell of freshly washed clothes?
    Oh yes :)

Especially freshly washed bed sheets as well!Don't you love the smell of freshly washed clothes?
Yes especially with gain detergent and Downy April Fresh fabric softener.
    no

i like the smell of perfume better

you know the ones that smell like candy :)
I do! I love when I walk through the neighborhood and can smell it from someones dryer.
yes as long as they have not been dried outside otherwise they smell of dirty pond water................
    i do!!

but my REAL love is putting all the hot clothes on the soffa (fresh out the dryer).. and taking a nap underneath them..

doesn't make sense.. but it feels GREAT!!!

    Nick

if they were dried afterwards yes. i relish in it

How do I get the hair/fuzzies from heavier cotton/cotton blend clothes? No matter how I wash/dry nothing helps

I have 2 or three cotton/cotton blend pieces of clothing that attract hair, fuzz, ';lint'; etc just from normal contact (nothing to do with static). No matter how I wash or dry them (tried different machines too) I can't get the hair/fuzzies off! Am I doomed to a life of lint rollers or dry cleaning?

Nothing special about the fabrics, just moderate to heavy fall cotton blend...How do I get the hair/fuzzies from heavier cotton/cotton blend clothes? No matter how I wash/dry nothing helps
I wash them inside out but wihen that didnt work I have also done the razor trick but the best way I have found was to buy duct tape and keep using it to pull them off you wipe if around your hand with the sticky side out and it pulls the fuzzes off. Good luckHow do I get the hair/fuzzies from heavier cotton/cotton blend clothes? No matter how I wash/dry nothing helps
try using a disposable razor it takes time but works ! Do it while you watch TV
Yup, I dislike those little fuzzy things too.

What I do is wash the fabric in regular cycle under Cold water.

Then I hang them up, or lay them flat to dry.

That's the only way to do it.

  • How To wash these type of Clothes?

Washing American Eagle, holisiter, and Aeropostale t-shirts together. Like Colors. Hand Wash Mode and Extra Rinse. The t-shirts are inside out. Is this right so the shirt wont shrink or mess up. Any other tip?How To wash these type of Clothes?
just read the tag on the shirt. it tells you what to do. some of the shirts are made of diff. material but even so it should be able to be washed in a machine, turned inside out, cold water.

Why is my washing machine bleaching my clothes?

I have had an indesit washing machine for five years and for the past few months it has been leaving bleach stains on a few of my clothes.

It has mostly been quilt covers, pillow cases and sheets. My bed sheets and all lilac, light browns and creams. I also bought a grey and green vest top. The grey one was completely ruined by the machine but the green one was fine.

I do find the odd bleach spot on other items occasionally but on the whole the rest of my washing is fine.

I have tried changing the detergent but that has made difference and i dont think its that anyway. I have stopped washing certain items in there until i get a new machine. My moms friend thinks the thermostat could be faulty and that it is letting boiling hot water out onto certain part of my clothes.

I have never used bleach in my machine and nor does anyone else so its definitely not that. Does anyone have any ideas? Why is my washing machine bleaching my clothes?
Are you using an acne medication with Benzoyl Peroxide? Why is my washing machine bleaching my clothes?
u kno,... my cousin had the same problem. she would wash her clothes and all of them would leave big bleach spots on them. i think that the problem was the detergent wasnt suitable for the machine but im not exactly sure why this happend. Hope at least some of my advice helped! lol
Use liquid detergents. Don't overstuff your washer loads as this prevents sufficient amounts of water to circulate between garments washing and rinsing them effectively.

Buy a washing machine cleaner and run it through the cycle. This should remove residue from your washer.
Be sure to fill your washer with water, mix in the detergent and agitate a few seconds before adding clothes. Sometimes putting the detergent on the clothes will cause spots. Use warm not hot water also.
And the washing powder/detergent you are using is.......????????
check if your top floor neighbour is using bleach and not rinsing properly their laundry when hanging to dry.

What has caused washing machine to burn clothes?

My boyfriend just went to put on a t-shirt that I washed yesterday. It went into the washing machine then was dried on a clothes horse. We have underfloor heating and no radiators so it was not in contact with any heat elements or direct heat. It has a big burn (similar to an iron burn, but the edges are soft, not crisp like you expect with an iron) The t-shirt has not been ironed though, so the only thing that could have happened was the washing machine has caused it. We've only had the machine 2 years but it was second hand- given to us by a workmate of my brother. It was only about a month ago that the fluff filter was cleaned out- the kitchen sink was giving off a smell so my bf cleaned out the washing machine, exit pipe, sink overflow and u bend. I use an eco wash (40') on every wash. Please help cos I've got a huge pile of washing to do and am scared to use my machineWhat has caused washing machine to burn clothes?
You need to get your machine serviced by a proper washing-machine engineer! Some years ago my mother infuriated my Dad by insisting on ';freshening up'; a new pair of trousers he had only worn for a few hours - they settled down to watch a film on t.v. three hours later when my Mother opened the laundry Room door she saw the machine GLOWING - RED-HOT in the darkness before she switched on the electriclight! The machine had just undergone its annual service and the engineer must have got some wires crossed!; All that was left of the pair of trousers was the metal zipper, a metal hook -and -eye and the fabric that reinforced the waistband! the rest of the fabric had melted or evaporated! If she hadn't checked the Laundry Room when she did the whole place might have burnt down!!What has caused washing machine to burn clothes?
Studying this picture I would say that at the time of burning the shirt was being worn and the wearer was sat down. Possibly driving along, flicked tab end out of window and didn't notice it had blown back in and dropped in his lap. Now he's just winding you up.

Note:- Its only synthetic material that goes hard when scorched.
I honestly don't know of anything in the tub of a wash machine that would get hot enough to burn clothes like that and if it did it would trip the fuse for sure. Theirs got to be another explanation !!!
Rewash that same t-shirt again by itself..Could be some dirt radiated up through the heater vent and it's not burned at all! Or try with some old wash rags and see if it happens again.... That's my best guess :)
Your boyfriend must have damaged it before the wash. If no other clothes were affected, it must have been already damaged before you got your hands on it.
it had to be damaged before you put in the washer as there are no heating elements in a washing machine to burn clothes or heat the water
I Would Get A Plumber Out

But If You Dont Want To Get A New Washing Machine Fast.

I Think Its To Dangerous To Try It.

    I Hope This Helps =]

everytime i wash them and after? Why does cotton shirts gets larger after everytime i wash it,how can i keep my cotton clothes as brand as new?
I'm guessing but it sounds like you don't dry them. If you let them air dry on a hanger I would imagine they would stretch. Do what I do. Wash in cold water and dry. Then fold and store in drawer or shelf don't hang them.

Is it just me missing it but do the housemates no longer wash their clothes?

At one time you saw them doing their dirty laundry in public. Now there aren`t many if any signs of washing. Mebbies they have loads of clothes. not chatting, clarifying questionIs it just me missing it but do the housemates no longer wash their clothes?

The way they edit the programmes you don't see them doing their washing but I hope they still are. Seeing Stuart sniff his t-shirt before putting it on last night made me suspect maybe they aren't washing their clothes - in which case YUCK!!!

  • Why do my clothes feel all rough and boardlike after i wash them?

whenever i wash and dry a shirt or something, it always feels really... i don't know how to explain it... crunchy? my clothes get all hard and uncomfortable.

i use dryer sheets and everything, aahhh! does anyone know how i can make them feel soft? Why do my clothes feel all rough and boardlike after i wash them?
it sounds like not all the soap/detergent is being rinsed out. Try using less. I have never used the recommended amount of detergent, I always use less unless it's the ultra concetrated stuff. and I've been doing laundry for 35 yearsWhy do my clothes feel all rough and boardlike after i wash them?
Hard water will leave your clothes feeling very rough. After we dry clothing on the line, the pants are sometimes so stiff we joke that they can walk back to the closet. Usually putting them in the dryer on ';air dry'; for ten minutes or so softens them.

If using softener and the dryer is not leaving the clothing soft, you may have some other problem.

I'd try rinsing them a second time, and use less detergent. It could be that your washer isn't getting all the soap out, and that would affect how well the fabric softener works. We had this problem when the washer malfunctioned, and was not agitating the rinse cycle, so the clothing just remained bunched up at the bottom, and water ran in and drained out without getting the soap residue out.

If making sure the soap is rinsed out does not remedy the problem, contact the local extension office (look in the phone book under county offices for your county or state. The office may be called ';home extension agent'; or ';agricultural extension agent.'; It may even be under the supervision of a local state university. Tell them the problem you are having, and ask for advice there. They know the local water, and may be able to suggest a solution. You may need to replace the washer.

Good luck, and I hope the second rinse fixes the problem. I love the smell and feel of cotton sheets dried in the wind on a cold day.
try fabric softener or try using a different dryer to see if that's the problem

Call me blonde but where do you put the washing powder when doing a load? in the middle bit or on the clothes?

With powdered soaps, I start the water first and pour the soap in and let it fill a bit to dissolve the soap. After it fills away, then I put in the laundry.Call me blonde but where do you put the washing powder when doing a load? in the middle bit or on the clothes?
i put in while water filling up, then add clothesCall me blonde but where do you put the washing powder when doing a load? in the middle bit or on the clothes?
What is the world coming to? One person wants you to explain Einstein's theory of relativity %26amp; the next wast to know how to do the laundry!
You have to wait till the washer fills with water and then put the powder in the water, otherwise it will cake on your clothes. For this reason, I only use liquid detergent because you don't have to wait for the washer to fill. You just put the liquid soap in with the clothes!
I put it on the cloths and there are no dumb questions ,its the only way you can learn.
You do add the detergent into the tub area of the washer, but if using powder I recommend adding the detergent and letting water fill partially to dissove it somewhat before adding clothes. This prevents the powder from adhering to the wet garments and clumping up on them so all of the residue doesn't rinse out.
put directly on the clothes....the middle one is for fabric softener (liquid) and the one near the front of the washer is for liquid bleach....
On the clothes. The middle is for fabric softener.
it depends on what kinda washing machine you have....they're ay be a place for the detergent...or you will have to put it in with the cloths
Actually, if you're using washing powder in a top-loader machine the best way is to put the powder in the bottom of the tub first, and then start the cycle to let it dissolve a bit. Then put your clothes in.

If you're using a front-loader, you could mix the washing powder in a cup or two of warm water and then put it in with the clothes.

Some machines have dispensing cups for liquid detergent - don't put washing powder in those because the drainage mechanisms will clog up.
i put mine in befor I put the clothes in
in with the clothes....the middle part is for the fabric softener
I get a little bit of water going in the machine, then add the powder so that it mixes in with the water, then I add the clothes.
Just add a cup to the clothes under the water while it's running in. If you have a thing in the middle on the spinner it is for fabric softner.
You're a blonde. It goes in the water, before you put the clothes in. Let the water mix it, then, when it stops, add clothes.
set the machine, once the water starts to run put the soap in..... then put the clothes in.
The middle is for your laundry fabric softener, you put your laundry detergent in the tub itself where you put the clothes
According to the instructions on my washing machine's lid, you should put in the detergent before you put the clothes in.
Let some water run first, then add the right amount of soap for the load size, let it agitate a little then add the clothes, adding liquid soap onto the clothes could cause spotting... the middle is for fabric softener
the middle bit is for fabric softener, just dump the powder on the clothes silly billy.
In with the clothes. The hole in the middle is for fabric softener. good luck.
Don't put the detergent on the clothes. Put it in the bottom of the washer, then add water, then the clothes. Depending on what type of detergent you are using, it could cause fading or spotting, if you put it on the clothes. The center of the dasher, is for softner. I always put in the softner, then pour a 1/2 cup of water right in after the softner. Otherwise you will get the hole for the softner all gummed up. You maybe safer using liquid detergent, but that too needs to go in the bottom of the washer along with some water to dilute it. If not and you pour it directly on the clothes, it possibly may stain.

    There are no dumb questions!
Put the clothes in first then sprinkle the powder all around.
wait for it to fill up with water then pour the washing powder in the clothes pero make sure your clothes have enuff water or your going to have to wash them again!

    Love Meee

    .:Rosita:.
    with the clothes
It is good to desolve the soap in the bottom of the tub before you add the clothes ,I did add the clothes after the machine had started up but the repair man said I should add the clothes after the soap was dissolved and before the water level was too high. The liquid fabric softener goes in the dispener for that and the bleach if added add before the clothes are added and has a chance to be diluted.

Weird question: How do you STOP permanent marker from coming out of clothes in the wash?

my friends and i did relay for life and we drew coloured pictures with perm. markers all over our white 100% cotton shirts. We don't want the colour to come out in the wash. Can anyone help ? Someone suggested hairspray, but i don't know if it'll work ....Weird question: How do you STOP permanent marker from coming out of clothes in the wash?
Wash by hand only in cold water using a very mild detergent like Woolite or Dreft.

It will stay. Putting it in the dryer will also set it in.

Being it is 100% cotton, remember it will shrink unless it has beeen preshrunk.

:-)Weird question: How do you STOP permanent marker from coming out of clothes in the wash?
Why is it that if you accidentally get marker on your clothes it will never come out but if you want it to stay in - like names in childrens clothes and your situation you can guarantee it will wash out. I suggest a non bio detergent on a very low wash but can't make any promises.
They will wash out, water and time have a way of erasing everything.

So it's best that you save the shirt (put it in a plastic clothing bag) for future memories, instead.
Im not sure about no hairspray. All I can say is hand wash it. If that doesn't work you may need to go over the shirt again. But the next time use fabric markers.
    Cold water?

Should fabric be pre-washed before sewing doll clothes?

Should fabric be pre-washed before sewing doll clothes to be sold? I figure the buyer is not going to launder the clothes like humans do. Fabrics include cotton, rayon, and polyester.Should fabric be pre-washed before sewing doll clothes?
If there is even a slight chance that the purchaser may wash the clothing items, you should do so first. Iron them and add a little spray starch, if you like, once they're dry. Do wash them, though.

Think of it as simple and inexpensive ';reputation insurance.';Should fabric be pre-washed before sewing doll clothes?
Absolutely. You never know how long your work may be around and someone down the line will probably wash it.

Back in the '70's my sis made a huge wardrobe for a doll. She tried making the doll last and gave up when the face was not to her liking.

Little did she know that my daughter (who was born in 1998) would adopt that faceless doll (loves her to bits!) and all of the clothing!

So, of course, it's all been washed countless times.

    Keep sewing!
If you are using fabric that will shrink, like cotton, then yes pre wash it. Little girls are playing with dolls, I am sure the clothes are going to have to be washed.
better do so in case it shrinks after washing

How do you stop clothes from going bobbly after you've washed them a few times?

I mean stop all those tiny bits of fluff... that make the clothes look scruffier and older.

Does fabric conditioner help? How do you stop clothes from going bobbly after you've washed them a few times?
You can get a pair of those dryer balls to get them dried more unified.

You can use less soap (unless you have an HE washer).

You can also turn darker and denser fabrics inside out when laundering them.

You can add liquid fabric softner instead of dryer sheets; or you can wash them in delicate cycle if they are less dense fabrics. How do you stop clothes from going bobbly after you've washed them a few times?
    Yes, fabric conditioner helps.

These are some things I've found:

    1. Have a good washing machine (since buying my new front loader I don't seem to get the bobbly bits)

    2. Good fabric conditioner

    3. Make sure there are no kleenex etc. fluff in pockets

    4. Remove and clean your filters on your washer and dryer after every few washes

    5. If clothes already have bobblies - remove with bought remover (like a tiny shaver that slices them off) or ball of strong tape rolled over them, I've even resorted to nail scissors in desperation

    6. Better quality clothing seems to not get the bobblies.

    7. Oh yes, and like the other answers - wash items inside out

    8. Wash towels / socks in separate loads to clothes

    Good luck
try using woolite you don't to wash everything in hot water
Wash them your clothes inside out and don't wash things such as towels or denim with your items that tend to pill (that's what it's called when you get the little fuzzies).

  • Can I mix body wash and laundry detergent together to clean my clothes?

I only have a little bit of detergent left and I love the smell of my body wash, if I mix a little bit of both is it okay? (I'm just washing my bed sheets and covers) Will it ruin anything? Can I mix body wash and laundry detergent together to clean my clothes?
DON'T DO IT! I put soap in the dishwasher that wasn't meant for the dishwasher and boy did I have a mess to clean up! Fun for about 2 minutes lol.Can I mix body wash and laundry detergent together to clean my clothes?
body wash might be high suds cleaner which could cause the washer to overflow with suds....

If you only have a bit of detergent, drop some baking soda in the washer before adding water and mix it up, it will get your whites whiter, brights brighter, and neutralize odors.

If you are using liquid detergent add a bit of water, you should only be using 1/2 of the top of the cup anyways. The second line is what they call in the business ';the money line';, users use that line and run out quicker, spending more money than is needed.
The worst that could happen is that you would have to wash them again and you will have wasted some body wash. One is probably a soap based product and the other a detergent, so they will probably not help each other.
hi..if u have vinegar in the house, use it as a substitute for detergent. wash a rag WITH the clothes and spray it with your body wash before u put everything in the dryer.
you can... but, if your doing it just for smell, put some on a wash cloth and throw it in the dryer with the dryer sheet.

Would turning clothes inside out to wash, make clothes stay their true color longer?

    Yes that will help.

    Also wash in cold water.

If you really want them to retain their color, don't put them in the dryer.

You are cooking the color right out of your clothes. Would turning clothes inside out to wash, make clothes stay their true color longer?
    Color fades from agitation; so turning inside out causes less agitation from surrounding fabric; in the washing machine;

    So put one garment only in gentle cycle; it will help; but stiffer the fabric; once it gets soaked in water; less it works;

But adding acid; like vinegar makes it last longer; but tea spoon or table spoon full only please;) Would turning clothes inside out to wash, make clothes stay their true color longer?
A little, but not enough to really matter. Try the new Tide Total Care. It's formulated to help clothes look new longer and keep their shape.
Yes but no bleaching solution please.

Separate your wash ie light and dark clothes should not be wash together.
no but staying out of the sun helps reduce fading.

I learn at the Los Angeles Science Museum
I have tried that..and no, it doesnt work.

Eco washing products leave my clothes smelling bad?

I have switched to using eco friendly products for washing my clothes such as Ecover. These products get the clothes clean enough but because they are not loaded with chemical fragrance the clothes don't smell so good once dry. They smell a bit like dampness no matter how often I was them. I have tried the ecover fabric softener and the adding essential oils but even though the clothes smell ok when damp once dry they begin to smell again, I notice this smell more on synthetic fabrics also. Please give me any advice on what to do as I don't want to go back to using chemical brands but my boyfriend is complaining about the smell. What can I do?Eco washing products leave my clothes smelling bad?
Vinegar! Regular white vinegar. You can get it in gallon sizes and it's pretty cheap, so bonus!

I had the same problem.. I use a drying rack instead of the dryer, and when I switched to eco-friendly detergent, my clothes smelled mildewy.. I tried different things, but then I tried vinegar, and it's excellent. It also helps my clothes feel softer.

I mix the vinegar with essential oils, but I think it would work just fine without them. Mostly I do it because I like the smell of them drying - the aroma doesn't stick around much longer than that anyway. And the vinegar smell itself usually just hangs around for a few minutes.

I never measure it, but I'm guessing I use around a 1/4 cup per wash. I pour it into my bleach spout because it's the closest thing I have to getting it in with the rinse cycle.Eco washing products leave my clothes smelling bad?
Just use a bounce sheet in the dryer.

If you really don't want any chemicals, use ionic washing as in a soapless washing machine. Basically metal ions in the water denaturalizes organic matter. They used to sell silver ionic stones, bars, or balls that you could put into your washing machine instead of soap but you don't see those in the Skymall anymore.
I have been using Melaleuca's products for washing my clothes. It works well, it smells good, and it is SUPER concentrated. If you are interested in a catalog and ordering their laundry soap (it take 1/2 ounce per load) contact me at arizona74mom@live.com. I love all of their products and they have a 100% satisfaction guarantee policy. But, you have to go through an Executive with the company to become a customer, so that would be me. You can simply be a customer, you can me a ';preferred customer'; or you can make it a job. I am not high pressure and if you are interested, just write me at my email address.
Seventh generation makes several great fragranced, environmentally friendly detergents. They have a lavender and a water blossom, both smell pretty good.

Method is a target brand, but they are also environmentally friendly and make several detergents that smell great.
    spray it with Febreze
Try adding in a bit of Dr. Bronner's...peppermint

Where do you wash your baby's clothes?

I am not talking about those of you who have a washer and dryer at home, but about those who don't, like myself.

I live in an apartment where there is not washer and dryer connection. So I have to wash my clothes in public laundry room (the one with coins). I hate that, but I try not to think about it as I have no other choice.

But I just can't stand the thought of putting my baby's clothes there. What do you think?Where do you wash your baby's clothes?
I have a washer and dryer in my home...but, think about it, it's a WASHER. It shouldn't disgust you to put your baby's things in there because it's constantly running with soap and water. If it bothers you that much, there are a couple things you can do:

    1) You can ask a friend or family member if you can do your baby's laundry in their home or, 2) run an empty cycle on the washer before washing your baby's clothes and then hang the clothes to dry in your apartment rather than use the dryer or, 3) wash everything by hand.Where do you wash your baby's clothes?
The nice thing about washers and dryers is that clothes go in dirty and come out clean. During the washing process the inside of the washing machines get pretty clean. These clean clothes then go into the dryers. If you are worried about germs one option could be to get some disinfecting wipes and wipe out the inside of the washers and dryers before you put your clothes in.
I second tory's sentiment -- hand wash them in your bath tub or kitchen sink. Or, is there a friend who would let you wash them at their house? Perhaps you can exchange some light housework once a week to use their washer and dryer?
Well, it's more sanitary than washing them by hand in the sink. If you're worried about germs, make sure you wash the clothes in hot water. If you're worried about the dryer, then you could hang dry the clothes over the shower rod. It's probably best just not to worry about it.
If its grossing you out you can opt for a portable washer and dryer that hooks up to your sink and if that isn't an option then you can get some clorox wipes and wipe the washers and dryers out at the laundry mats .
dryers get so hot that they kill all the germs and soap kills bacteria so i think ur fine washing them in a public place
i couldnt stand it either...i finally sucked up my pride and asked my mom to use her washer and dryer for my sons clother. before that i was using hot water in a laudrymat.
    Give me a break...
I think you are overreacting. The inside of a washer constantly has soap in it for Pete's sake. If you are really worried about germs, spray some lysol in the machine and let it dry before you use it.
    Hand wash them...
If it bothers you to the point where you can't stand the thought of putting your baby's clothes the washers and dryers, then you should consider buying a washer and dryer for your home. If it's not allowed in your apartment, then you can consider hand washing and drying it around the house. There could be 2 benefits to it.

    1. No worrying about using washer/dryer that other people use.

    2. Drying in the house allows to get rid of the stuffiness and dryness in the house if you live in a cold area where the heater is on all winter. We live in NYC and it's winter right now with the heater on. This causes a lot of dryness in the house, but we have 2 humidifiers for the baby which takes care of that problem. As for the washer/dryer, we also use the ones at our local laundromat, but we don't really have a problem using it. It seems fairly clean and I feel the washers/dryers are constantly being washed.
I empathize completely. I was without a washer/dryer with my first son, and the only laundromat within walking distance was nasty. Also, many washaterias allow smoking, so it got into babies' clothes as I folded them.

Wish I had an easy solution. Perhaps you could do laundry at a friend or relative's house? In the summer, you could hand-wash and dry clothes on a clothesline; it makes them smell really fresh. You could have an indoor clothesline too, but it can take up a lot of space.

Best of luck. I don't think it's outrageously expensive to install a dryer vent and outlet. See if your landlord will allow it; that way, you could hand-wash and tumble dry. Look for a smoke-free laundromat in the meantime.
Wash your own clothes in the first load, and followed by your baby clothes in the second load. That's how I make myself feel more comfortable.
go to a family memebers house and ask them if you can use there washer and dryer maybe you can even pay them a little bit of money
When we had our first child, we lived in an apartment with the communal w/d downstairs. I never did any separate loads of laundry (that is, no baby clothes only). I truly never thought anything negative about using the public laundry facilities. Think about it, the washer cleans itself with each wash. If you are really concerned about it, use Hot water instead of Warm. Hand washing items is absurd and totally impractical and unnecessary. Congratulations on being a Mommy!
I understand about the public laundry that kinda grosses me out. Maybe you could take them to a relatives house or a friends house. That would be your best bet. Good luck!

How do u properly wash ur clothes??

As of right now, I put tha clothes in first, then the detergent then a scoop of Oxi Clean. But my clothes arent comin clean. On my whites, the stains come out but they arent whiten. Im tired if rewashing. I've read that ur supposed to put the water and cleaners 1st but im afraid im gonna put too much water and not enough clothes. Any suggestions?? 10 points to the best described answer. How do u properly wash ur clothes??
OK. first, sort your clothes. The whites, light colors, dark colors, towels, jeans. If you don't have that many clothes, you might want to put the darks %26amp; jeans together. Whites in hot water, colors in cold. Anyway, put the soap in, first, then the clothes. Make sure not to overload the washer, put the clothes in there, loosely. That may be why the clothes don't get clean very well. Use the correct cycle(regular, or gentle cycle) How do u properly wash ur clothes??
I let the wash tub fill (empty) and add my detergent.. I also use baking soda in my wash loads so I put that in while I'm sorting clothing, treating stains... Then I put the clothing in making sure to NOT overload the machine.. It's better to have too little clothing so they can move and wash freely then to have everything ball up and the detergent can't rinse out properly... Also, you might be using too much soap... Some detergents if left on the clothing can stain or mark your clothing if it doesn't rinse properly as well.. I would run your clothing through another cycle without adding anymore soap... Or add 1 cup of baking soda to rinse out any soap residue! That's what's making your clothing grey and dingy!

    Good luck
put less clothes in dry%26amp; sorted. oxi clean can never replace good old bleach for whites and for colors maybe you should try using a better or different stronger soap. you could also try putting a small scoop of baking soda in them. my grandmother used to do that. and pre treating stains always helps, do it as soon as you take the clothes off and let it sit in the hamper pretreating till laundry day.
Whites you just a little bit of bleach let it soak for about 10 minutes.

I recently also learn to add a little bit of lemon muti-purpose cleaner in wash cycle about 1/4.

It works to remove stains %26amp; dirt.
I've been taught to put the cleaner in first than turn on the water...for it to mix than put the clothes in...

the amount should be around/near the clothes amount..

    How to wash clothes...?

Everytime I let my mom wash my clothes, they shrink and look really worn out. I wash them now, and they don't shrink anymore, but they still look warn out. I think it is because we have a SUPER OLD washing machine...the stupid delicate cycle doesn't even work!! What can I do to make them still look new? How to wash clothes...?
Short of mom buying a new washing machine, nothing. You could start taking your clothes to a laundromat, but unless it is a well maintained one, those machines may not be much better than what mom has at home. One thing you could try is washing all of your clothing in cold water and a mild detergent like Woolite. I also suggest that you dry your clothes and take them out while still slightly damp and hang up to dry the rest of the way. Over-drying can be damaging to clothing. How to wash clothes...?
If you buy bright colored clothes, soak them in a sink or bucket of ice cold water and 1 cup of salt........this will set the dye....works for jeans too.

Wash those colored items in cold water........tumble dry on low.

Don't wash fluffy, furry, or soft fabrics (like sweaters and towels) with anything else. If you wash them with your t-shirts or slacks, they will transfer that 'pilling' to those items and that's soooooooooooo inconvenient! Buy a clothes shaver......run it over a nice fabric that loosened some fibers to keep your items sharp and crisp looking.

I bought the Downy ball and use the liquid softener now - it makes a nice difference - better than dryer sheets cuz your fabrics just seem to wrinkle less in the dryer and lay better on your frame.

For whites, warm water - not hot (that sets dirt stains it seems) and add 1/2 bottle of peroxide to soap and water before adding clothes - let them soak for about 15 minutes and then (downy ball in!) and wash on a good agitating setting for medium time.

I also keep Spray and Wash with Resolve on hand for when I cook and that grease always seems to touch my shirt. Spray it on and set 5 min then wash as normal.

Hope this helps.......you are the only one that will truly care for your own clothing investment.

    Call it independence.
hang them to dry instead of putting them in the dryer. it will make your clothes last a lot longer. also when hanging them, dont do it by the sleeves or it could stretch. just hang the middle of the shirt or whatever on the bottom bar of the hanger.
They look owrn do to the hard water that frays tyhe fiber. One product to soften water and will help your clothes get cleaner is Borax and it is very cheap aditive. I promis you your clothes will last longer and will get cleaner.

  • Wash machine keep living clothes dump wet! What causes and what is the problem?

you do need a new machine. i have seen you ask for help before. the motor is shot and that drives the pump. a repair will cost more than a new washer, sorryWash machine keep living clothes dump wet! What causes and what is the problem?
If they or not spun out properly in the spin cycle, and it's a front loader machine, you are probably overloading the machine. If it's a top loader, then please call the maintanance man for the repair of the machine--at least to check it out.

Take care.Wash machine keep living clothes dump wet! What causes and what is the problem?
Another thing to consider. If you have too many clothes in the washer, they will come out too wet.
    wet water
The spin cycle forces out the water through centrifugal force to a pump that is connected to the drain hose.

Is the tub spinning during the spin cycle?

If the tub is not spinning, it could be a bad timer. Otherwise, the pump may be bad or clogged, or the hose may be clogged.
Your Washing machine's ringer is not operating it is fixable at reasonable cost.

Can I fix clothes that have come out of the wash very dingy?

My husband washed a load of brand new and old clothes and anything light in color or white came out looking awful! They are light brownish grayish. We do have well water but it is treated w/salt and rust inhibitor. Once clothes are dingy is that it or can it be reversed? Help please! Will choose best answer. Can I fix clothes that have come out of the wash very dingy?
OMG - my daughter does that all the time - doesn't separate the loads!!! Ugh!!! You can bleach the whites and after a washing or two they should whiten back up. It really depends on what else got discolored though - if light colors were washed with new jeans, then there isnt' much hope. You can try a color-safe bleach or even a VERY SMALL amount of chlorine bleach in a load of light colors and see if that helps. We've had our fair share of yellow towels that are now an ugly shade of bleck thanks to my daughter and I've never been able to recapture the original color. :o(Can I fix clothes that have come out of the wash very dingy?
Don't dry them yet, once they dry it's harder to remove the dingyness

Seperate them (lights and darks) and wash again, this time use some bleach for the white and clorox2 works well with the colors!

I know to preserve darker clothes, you add vinegar to the initial wash. Can this be done during the 2nd wash?

I think it actually works better to use it in the final rinse, as it acts as a softener plus removes soap residueI know to preserve darker clothes, you add vinegar to the initial wash. Can this be done during the 2nd wash?
Sure, I also turn my darker clothes inside out and wash on the cold/cold wash cycle with Woolite and I hang them to dry... Good luck

Does value village wash the clothes before selling them?

I have a friend who works there and I can say that no, they do not wash the clothes. They reccomend to the donators that you wash the clothes before dropping them off, but sometimes they dont. I reccomend just washing clothes, period, from a second-hand or vintage store before you try it on. It's the only way you'll personally know it's clean.Does value village wash the clothes before selling them?
No, I don't think so. The place kind of smells. Always wash clothes before you wear them, especially if they're from a thrift store.Does value village wash the clothes before selling them?

yes if you have a flea infestation at home. you can get them anywhere in your bed your nickers in your hair and the only way to kill them is eucalyptus oil .Can you carry fleas in luggage? Even if all the clothes in the luggage are freshly washed?
Sure there would be lots of fleas in your home until you will not use some medicine to kill them, these mat be in your clothes, body, luggage anywhere, so you have to get rid of fleas by using some oil.Can you carry fleas in luggage? Even if all the clothes in the luggage are freshly washed?
There is always a possibility when you become complacent having done all those killing measures but not maintaining the same tempo to check periodically.

I tried to wash my new dual coloured clothes and it got stains from its own colors. HELP!?

Go to the laundry section of WalMart, Target, etc and get a product called Rit Dye Remover. Carbona also makes a color run remover. Either of these products should work just fine if you follow the instructions on the package. If the item was dried on a hot setting, it might not work.

    Good luck!

How to fix a bulb...!!??how to wash clothes...!!?

Don't think I don't know how to fix it;I know but not in English...!!!

I'm a English student, and our teacher wants us to explain how to fix a bulb in English.Plz help me and write all the steps I will find any expression I don't know in dictionary.

And something else would you PLz write for me how to wash clothes(actually by hands)! :DHow to fix a bulb...!!??how to wash clothes...!!?
I can't figure out what kind of ';bulb'; you are talking about. There are only two kinds of bulbs, a light bulb that screws into a lamp or light fixture, and a plant bulb used to grow a few certain types of plants. Neither one of them can be ';fixed'; in any way; they can only be replaced.

As for washing clothes, first you get them wet, then you rub a small area of the material with soap, then you hold the soaped part of the material in each hand so that part of the soaped area is draped between the knuckles of both hands, and then you rub your knuckles-and the material-together vigorously, over and over again. The water and soap loosens the dirt and sweat in the cloth, and the rubbing together brings both the soap and dirt up out of the fibers of the cloth-but only in the area being rubbed together. Then you rinse the material in water to wash away the loosened dirt and sweat. Then you repeat the whole process again on another small area of the material, one that is right next to the area just washed.

It's hard work, but that's the way it was done for thousands of years, until the washing machine was invented.

If you do this process in flowing water, such as a stream or river, it's a little easier. In many countries, woman soap the material, then lay it on a flat rock just above the water, then pound it all over with another rock. That is a little easier on the hands. How to fix a bulb...!!??how to wash clothes...!!?
You don't fix light bulbs - you change them for new ones.

    Turn off electricity

Remove old bulb by twisting and pulling, or by unscrewing

Install new bulb by pushing and twisting, or by screwing-in

    Turn on electricity

    Dispose of old bulb safely.

    Help with washing clothes?

I have to put a load of clothes in the washer, and from looking at the labels of the t-shirts/shorts and jeans, the majority of the clothes I'm washing say ';Machine Wash Cold';, but there are a few that do say ';Machine Wash Warm';. My question is: Will washing all of them in cold water damage the ones that say ';Machine Wash Warm';?Help with washing clothes?
No, cold water will not harm clothes which can be washed in warm water. It may help them to last longer.

When I wash jeans, I zip/button them and turn them inside out. That helps to preserve their color longer, keeps them from fading. (I also turn t-shirts with designs on them, our good office/church clothes, and delicates inside out before I wash them.)

When I put clothes in the dryer, I turn them right side out, the only exception being t-shirts which have designs on the front.

When I wash dark colors, I use a good detergent for dark colors. Woolite for Darks is very good, but it does not come in an HE formula. Since I now have an HE washer, I use Tide Total Care HE, and it is very good too.

If you are concerned about transfer of color, you can use Shout Color Catchers (link below) to trap any dye which 'bleeds' into the wash water.

If you are washing new red clothes, I recommend washing them separately from all other colors.

White vinegar in the fabric softener dispenser will help to preserve the colors of your clothes: 1 cup in a full load in a washer with agitator or 1/2 cup in a full load in an HE washer is sufficient. You can add some FS to it if you wish.

If you don't have a FS dispenser, you can put it in a Downy ball (link below) or add it manually to the last rinse.

Hope this helps!Help with washing clothes?
I would make sure that you wash jeans in a cold wash (about 30-40deg c) otherwise they may shrink the leg length. Make sure that you only put in the same colours that if the jeans loose a little of their dye that it will not effect the colour of the other garments.

It is only a recommendation to use warm wash, it will not hurt them to wash them in cooler water. It uses much power if you only use a cold wash, so think of it as your bit for the environment.

How can i get the mildewy smell out of my clothes, towels, and washing machine?

My kids sometimes leave clothes in the washer. I try telling them not to wash anything if they can't be there to put it in the dryer. Unfortunately it often falls on deaf ears. With my work schedule I have to rely on their help.

I hate getting out of the shower only to find out the towel I 'sniffed' before the shower does in fact smell mildewy. They just need to be wet before they smell. But the clothes don't. They smell even worse than the towels. But if I use a smelly towel I can't get the stink off my body. I don't want to stink at work (or anywhere).

We used to dry the clothes then rewash them, but that doesn't seem to work anymore. I am desperate. I can't take the smell. It is starting to make me gag now. Please help. How can i get the mildewy smell out of my clothes, towels, and washing machine?
run your washer on empty (full load cycle) with bleach to get the smell out first. Then rewash your clothes and add a cup of viniger to the wash along with your regular washing detergent. It should get the smell out. :)How can i get the mildewy smell out of my clothes, towels, and washing machine?
You need to run the cycle with only water and some bleach and detergent.

I would separate MY clothes and let the kids wash their own clothes so their own clothes get smelly. A few time of that and they should start paying attention. Meanwhile, wash your own clothes away from theirs.

The other thing is to check the washer EVERYDAY and make sure YOUR clothes and towels aren't in there. The washed clothes have to be sitting in there for days in order to get smelly.
I sometimes get lazy about laundry and the same thing happens to me. First clean the washer real good by running an empty cycle with hot water and bleach. For the clothes, all you really need to do is add 1/2 to 1 cup vinegar(depending on load size) to the RINSE cycle to get the smell out of clothes.
run a very hot cycle with machine empty, doing this every couple of months should get rid of any smells
Maybe ask ur kids 2 run the washing machine w/nothing n it but soap 2 get the smell out. Then 2 ensure ur clothes and towels stop smelling bad reward ur kids 4 there help but only give it 2 them 4 a job well done. Also 2 make sure it's all done rite give the reward 2 all ur children, if they don't do a good job (but 1 claims 2 have still done their job rite) don't give the reward 2 any of them. Let them kno that they all need 2 do a good job or no1 is rewarded. That's all I kno that could help! Hope it works. =)

  • Whick kind of net should i use to protect my clothes when using washing machine?

There are various kind of net in the market. Should I use a big net and put all my T-shirts in or should I use a small net for each T-Shirt. Thanks.Whick kind of net should i use to protect my clothes when using washing machine?
You can usually pick up a small net bag in the laundry or hosiery section of Target/Wal-Mart etc. But in a pinch you can use a white (or colored depending on garment) Pillow Case and tie the top off. I would not use the large sized mesh bags for T's maybe a few medium ones. I always treat the clothing like I paid a fortune for it, it looks better for longer!

If it is something that is very delicate I would use cool water and the gentle cycle and either air dry or lightly fluff dry.

Best of luck!Whick kind of net should i use to protect my clothes when using washing machine?
i'd just use a few medium sized ones.

How do I wash bright colored clothes?

Separately, carefully, and in cold water.

If you only have one or two things needing washed, you can handwash them (a few inches of cool/cold water in the sink with a drop or 2 of cold-water detergent such as Woolite or Delicare, etc., or you can use shampoo) ... leave them to soak for maybe 5 minutes, rinse, roll in a towel just to remove the excess moisture, then lay flat to dry.

If you have more than a few items, separate them by color and wash similar colors together in the washer ... cold water, gentle cycle, very little detergent. Dry on low heat in the dryer or allow to airdry. How do I wash bright colored clothes?
    1) Turn the clothes inside out before you put them in the washer.

    2) Wash them in cold water and rinse them in cold water.

    3) Use a good detergent for bright colors.

I like Cheer. It comes in both regular formula (for conventional washers) and HE formula (for front-loading and HE toploader washers).

Have you tried using spray and wash on it NOT the Spray N Wash stick BUT the liquid spray and wash on it and if that doesnt work try color bleach or oxy clean?!? It should comeout still.
try dawn dishwashing liquid, rub it in then throw it in the wash like normal. Hope it works
Soak for 4-5 days in Clorox 2 - not regular clorox. I use a bucket. Depending on how bad the stain, a week or more.

And something else would you PLz write for me how to wash clothes(actually by hands)! :DHow to fix a Bulb...??!!How to wash clothes...??!!?
How to wash clothes by hand:

Change into clothing you don't mind getting soapy water on. If detergent is left on clothing for a long time (until your next washing for instance) it can discolor the clothing.

--- Find a bucket/basin/bathtub/stoppable sink that is big enough to hold your clothes. Remember that clothing is smaller, heavier and harder to manage when wet

    --- Add clothes.

--- Fill with water. Cold water works, and conserves energy, but if you have heavily soiled clothes, hot water provides deeper cleaning potential.

--- Add detergent. If you are using liquid, pour it right on. If you are using powder, it might work better to to dissolve it with a smaller amount of water in a separate container first.

--- How dirty is your clothing? If it's just worn, i.e a little sweaty and smelly, all you need it do is slosh it around in the water a few times. If it's stained, you'll need to go at it hard for a good five minutes at least. Take a bumpy surface (not scratchy, bumpy) and rub it up against the clothes. If you are at the river you can swing each piece of clothing and slam it on a rock to beat the dirt out. Watch for snakes.

--- Let the clothes soak for about 20-30 minutes. 20 if you don't have many clothes, 25 if you have a medium amount, and 30 if you have a big bundle of clothing.

--- Put your hands in the water and moosh the clothing around.

Once you're done mooshing, drain out the water.

--- Take each piece of clothing and rinse it under the running water till all the soap is out. This will take time and hard labor.

--- Hang everything up to dry.

---Enjoy your clean, sweet-smelling clothes! How to fix a Bulb...??!!How to wash clothes...??!!?
You cannot fix a bulb. You can only change it. LOL

How do you change a bulb in your country?? The process is the same all over the world.

Make sure the light switch is turned off. If it is a hanging bulb, you get a ladder or chair. You place it underneath the hanging bulb. Grasp the bulb and turn it counter-clockwise (I believe). Once the bulb is out of the socket, place replacement bulb in the socket and turn it in the opposite direction until it is seated securely in the socket, but not too tight.

Repeat procedure for table and standing fixtures omitting the chair or ladder if not needed.

As to washing clothes by hand.

Take the gun out of the nearest drawer.... There is a reason why we have wash machines. Have you ever had to wash clothes by hand?

I have. Fill a tub with soapy water. Dunk clothing in the tub until they are completely wet. Take each item, one after the other, at the opposite sides of the garment in your hands. Rub them together. For stains, you will need a washboard. Ring-out each piece of clothing and set it aside. Refill your tub with clean water. Dunk your clothing again, numerous times. Ring them out vigorously until you've gotten out as much water as possible.
When you need to replace a lightbulb, first of all let the failed bulb cool down for ten or twenty minutes if it has been in use for some hours before failing. This is unlikely as bulbs usually ';go'; the instant the light is switched on. First turn the electricity off at the mains for safety's sake. Make sure the bulb with which you are replacing the one that has ';gone'; is a suitable wattage. Some lampshades must be used with only 40 watt or 60 watt bulbs; with others it's fine to use 100 watt bulbs. With your replacement bulb, either bayonet or screw fitting, use a sturdy small step-ladder to reach the light socket. Remove the old bulb and put it by for safe disposal later. Then insert the new bulb in the socket. If it is the bayonet type you will need to push it in quite hard and twist. If it is of the screw-type variety, simply screw it in. Climb back down the step ladder, turn the electricity back on, and test the bulb works by flicking the switch on.

    [Edit]

I haven't done the washing clothes one, but I just want to warn you of one spelling trap -- it is ';wring'; out wet clothes, not ';ring';.

I accidently put some new dark red towels with white clothes in my washing machine and now every cloth is PINK

The towels were new, never washed before and i accidently put them with light %26amp; white colored clothes in Washing Machine for about an hour with warm water %26amp; detergent.

Now they have all become pink in color.....!!! Can I do something to lighten them or make them near to normal again?

Is there any product awailable in Indian market? Any home remedies? Please help me...I accidently put some new dark red towels with white clothes in my washing machine and now every cloth is PINK
    Non-Bleach Methods

    * Soak the fabric in hot water infused with green tea. Remove the garment, spread salt on the stain, let stand a while, and then launder normally.

    * Rewash the item, adding about 1/4 cup of borax to the wash water.

    * Rit (and perhaps other companies) produces a color remover you may use on stained white clothes. Follow the directions on the box. Be certain that you don鈥檛 use the solution around your washer or dryer, as the solution is strong enough to mar the finish. That being the case, you may also want to invest in a sturdy pair of rubber gloves and wear old clothes while you鈥檙e treating your garments.

Good Luck!!I accidently put some new dark red towels with white clothes in my washing machine and now every cloth is PINK
As far as i know once colours will get mixed there is no solution to bring that back to original one.. better to buy new one
Prevention is better than cure .Do some hand wash with Excel surf .Expect better result .
the chemist and supermarket have a sachet called ';run away';. i did the same thing with a white t shirt. i used ';run away'; and the t shirt is like new.
First be absolutely certain that you only have all the discolored whites to put into the washer because you will have to rewash them. If there are quite a few pieces of clothing try to separate them to where when you set the washer on heavy load the water will completely cover the clothes. Use as hot of water that the machine can make. Pour a 1lb box of Arm %26amp; Hammer baking soda into the water while it's still hot and stir it in well. Add 录 cup of white vinegar and stir in well. Add 录 cup of mild dish detergent and let the clothes soak for about 陆 hour before starting the washer. Wash on Medium or Normal cycle. If this is not successful repeat the steps 1 to 3 times more but in most cases the first repeat will remove the dye sometimes the first rewashing will work. Good Luck!!
    max em with clorox
all your cotton things can be bleached and add some baking soda to the water.. this should get your cotton back to normal... check all the labels to see which items can be bleached and follow washing instructions... white vinegar and with baking soda will help too but do this in a well ventilated area...
Only one solution. Buy a good brand fabric bleach and bleach the whites. You may have to repeat a few times. Use fabric conditioner also to counter the harsh effects of bleaching.

Remember the golden rule in India. No matter how expensive the fabric, all dark colours such as maroon, magenta, turquoise, orange, mustard, red etc tend to run, no matter what the shopkeeper may promise. So its always better to first soak these fabrics separately to find out !

    Good luck.
don't worry about it, relax. everything Will be OK
How does that happen? I mean NEW RED towels with WHITES ? I can totally see a red sock creeping into the whites and going unoticed but, brand new red towels.. What were you doing laundry with the lights off !

I don't know much about the indian market but, RIT makes a color remover you might be able to find it near you or online.... Then I would stay away from the washer in the future...

    Good luck

Help my babies onesies/clothes shrunk after I washed them?

I used the dreft detergent that everyone recommended and use low temperature to dry them and now they look like preemies' clothes. I am 31 weeks pregnant and was just preparing the clothes.Help my babies onesies/clothes shrunk after I washed them?
i buy dreft too but i think once i finish it i'll swith to regular laundry detergent. i also learned my lesson to what you did i did the exact same thing, i was preparing for th ebaby lol. now i wash it in cold water and always leave it to dry on hangers since i dont have a yard, i put them all over the laundry room that solved my problem!Help my babies onesies/clothes shrunk after I washed them?
They'll be fine. You'll be shocked at how tiny your baby is when it arrives! We bought all cotton clothes, since we live in super-hot Texas, and they all shrunk a little bit. My son was 7 lbs 8 oz at birth, grew like a weed, and still wore newborn sizes for 6 weeks.

Side note: Dreft is expensive and unnecessary. You can use the family's regular detergent, and if the baby develops any rashes, go with a free %26amp; clear detergent.
Dreft is too expensive. Try rewashing them in cold water and putting them out on a clothes line. The cold water keeps the clothes from shrinking and also allows you to pull them back to size. Try Baby Purex or any Free and Clear detergent to wash them in.

  • Help with washing clothes?

im new to this so yeahh i just wanted to know..

when i put detergent in (before i turn on the washer) it sinks into these holes that are in my machine.. i think thats were the water gets drained?

anyway yeah.. is that detergent going to waste or what?

and some tips with washing would be great :DHelp with washing clothes?
The soap is not going to waste because the drain on the machine is closed. First hint I can give you about laundry is - you never use powder detergents. Your plumber will tell you that in time they will build up in your pipes. (same for you dishwasher). The number one detergent is Tide. I use Tide with Bleach Alternative. You don't have to buy bleach for colored clothes. Sort your clothes into 3 piles. Darks (jeans), White cottons (T-shirts, socks, towels) and light colors and mixed colors (like a shirt with pictures on it). Use warm water and cold rinse setting on your machine. Hot water for white cottons and sheets. If you have any stains on anything now is the time to use a prestain cleaner. I use Zout. I think it is the best. Hope this helps. Remember your laundry isn't done until it is put away.Help with washing clothes?
you should first set your washer on whatever kind of clothing you want to do most of the time it would be ';warm water'; then when the the water starts poring in, you can add the detergent and then you can pu your clothes in. Don't forget to separate whites from colour.

    I hope this helps.

p.s you will not waste any detergent if the water starts running into the washer.
It would be best to add while the water is filling so it can break it down.

If you use powder it requires warm water. So easy trick is to have container with hot water ready add powder in container mix with a stick and should be ready. If your washing color which is typically cold water setting Add to big cups of HOT WATER from facuet.

1/2 cup to 1 cup is all that is need for your wash load.
uhm by detergent im thinking the Powder Soap?

Yea u fill the tank up with water..put the soap in

    -Put clothes in

-Adjust Water tempature before tho(read T-Shirt Tags tells u what requirements for that clothing)

uh becareful when using Hot-Water cuz u shrink ur clothes.

Dont leave it in dryer for too long or it will shrink.

    NEVER mix darks with lights(white).

Bleach sometimes turns ur white clothes yellowish so if theres no stains on ur shirt just use regular warm water.

and yea bout it, when it emptys out the first load of watter and refills, put in the fabric softner liquid and ur preety much done.
I'll be leaving off to college soon and will be independent so I'm wondering the same thing, lol. We fail.
