Why is my washing machine now tearing holes in my clothing?

From a load of laundry, 2 shirts and one pair of pants came out knotted up and with holes in them. Washer is approximately 10 years old.Why is my washing machine now tearing holes in my clothing?
there are a lot of reasons why it is tearing up your clothes. I am assuming your washer is a top load conventional direct drive washer. Check over the agitator and make sure it is not broken. also check the tub from top to bottom for broken or chipped areas that could catch on your clothes. If none are found I would say it is in either your transmission or basket drive. unless you have a service plan the repair will cost you more than the mach is worth. trans plus labor will cost over $400 and basket drive not far behind it. I recommend getting a service plan from sears or a warranty company of your choice and have a authorized tech check it out. service plan will be cheaper than the repair and usually cover 100% of parts and labor. You can get a service plan on it as long as the mach is less than 10 yrs old. Why is my washing machine now tearing holes in my clothing?
I don't know why. It sounds like you need a new one though. Could be a broken part in the wash basin that clothes are catching on.
