Where do you wash your baby's clothes?

I am not talking about those of you who have a washer and dryer at home, but about those who don't, like myself.

I live in an apartment where there is not washer and dryer connection. So I have to wash my clothes in public laundry room (the one with coins). I hate that, but I try not to think about it as I have no other choice.

But I just can't stand the thought of putting my baby's clothes there. What do you think?Where do you wash your baby's clothes?
I have a washer and dryer in my home...but, think about it, it's a WASHER. It shouldn't disgust you to put your baby's things in there because it's constantly running with soap and water. If it bothers you that much, there are a couple things you can do:

1) You can ask a friend or family member if you can do your baby's laundry in their home or, 2) run an empty cycle on the washer before washing your baby's clothes and then hang the clothes to dry in your apartment rather than use the dryer or, 3) wash everything by hand.Where do you wash your baby's clothes?
The nice thing about washers and dryers is that clothes go in dirty and come out clean. During the washing process the inside of the washing machines get pretty clean. These clean clothes then go into the dryers. If you are worried about germs one option could be to get some disinfecting wipes and wipe out the inside of the washers and dryers before you put your clothes in.
I second tory's sentiment -- hand wash them in your bath tub or kitchen sink. Or, is there a friend who would let you wash them at their house? Perhaps you can exchange some light housework once a week to use their washer and dryer?
Well, it's more sanitary than washing them by hand in the sink. If you're worried about germs, make sure you wash the clothes in hot water. If you're worried about the dryer, then you could hang dry the clothes over the shower rod. It's probably best just not to worry about it.
If its grossing you out you can opt for a portable washer and dryer that hooks up to your sink and if that isn't an option then you can get some clorox wipes and wipe the washers and dryers out at the laundry mats .
dryers get so hot that they kill all the germs and soap kills bacteria so i think ur fine washing them in a public place
i couldnt stand it either...i finally sucked up my pride and asked my mom to use her washer and dryer for my sons clother. before that i was using hot water in a laudrymat.
Give me a break...
I think you are overreacting. The inside of a washer constantly has soap in it for Pete's sake. If you are really worried about germs, spray some lysol in the machine and let it dry before you use it.
Hand wash them...
If it bothers you to the point where you can't stand the thought of putting your baby's clothes the washers and dryers, then you should consider buying a washer and dryer for your home. If it's not allowed in your apartment, then you can consider hand washing and drying it around the house. There could be 2 benefits to it.

1. No worrying about using washer/dryer that other people use.

2. Drying in the house allows to get rid of the stuffiness and dryness in the house if you live in a cold area where the heater is on all winter. We live in NYC and it's winter right now with the heater on. This causes a lot of dryness in the house, but we have 2 humidifiers for the baby which takes care of that problem. As for the washer/dryer, we also use the ones at our local laundromat, but we don't really have a problem using it. It seems fairly clean and I feel the washers/dryers are constantly being washed.
I empathize completely. I was without a washer/dryer with my first son, and the only laundromat within walking distance was nasty. Also, many washaterias allow smoking, so it got into babies' clothes as I folded them.

Wish I had an easy solution. Perhaps you could do laundry at a friend or relative's house? In the summer, you could hand-wash and dry clothes on a clothesline; it makes them smell really fresh. You could have an indoor clothesline too, but it can take up a lot of space.

Best of luck. I don't think it's outrageously expensive to install a dryer vent and outlet. See if your landlord will allow it; that way, you could hand-wash and tumble dry. Look for a smoke-free laundromat in the meantime.
Wash your own clothes in the first load, and followed by your baby clothes in the second load. That's how I make myself feel more comfortable.
go to a family memebers house and ask them if you can use there washer and dryer maybe you can even pay them a little bit of money
When we had our first child, we lived in an apartment with the communal w/d downstairs. I never did any separate loads of laundry (that is, no baby clothes only). I truly never thought anything negative about using the public laundry facilities. Think about it, the washer cleans itself with each wash. If you are really concerned about it, use Hot water instead of Warm. Hand washing items is absurd and totally impractical and unnecessary. Congratulations on being a Mommy!
I understand about the public laundry that kinda grosses me out. Maybe you could take them to a relatives house or a friends house. That would be your best bet. Good luck!
