My husband washed a load of brand new and old clothes and anything light in color or white came out looking awful! They are light brownish grayish. We do have well water but it is treated w/salt and rust inhibitor. Once clothes are dingy is that it or can it be reversed? Help please! Will choose best answer. Can I fix clothes that have come out of the wash very dingy?
OMG - my daughter does that all the time - doesn't separate the loads!!! Ugh!!! You can bleach the whites and after a washing or two they should whiten back up. It really depends on what else got discolored though - if light colors were washed with new jeans, then there isnt' much hope. You can try a color-safe bleach or even a VERY SMALL amount of chlorine bleach in a load of light colors and see if that helps. We've had our fair share of yellow towels that are now an ugly shade of bleck thanks to my daughter and I've never been able to recapture the original color. :o(Can I fix clothes that have come out of the wash very dingy?
Don't dry them yet, once they dry it's harder to remove the dingyness
Seperate them (lights and darks) and wash again, this time use some bleach for the white and clorox2 works well with the colors!
