I know your not suppose to use fabric softener when washing a newborns clothing, but does that apply for dryer sheets too??? Thanks!!!
36 weeks 4 days pregnant with first child.Did you use dryer static sheets to wash your newborns clothes???
I used the Bounce Free ~ free of perfumes and dyes ~ right from day one. I've searched high and low looking for dryer sheets (or fabric softener period, for that matter) made specifically for babies and have yet to find it.Did you use dryer static sheets to wash your newborns clothes???
We have always used dryer sheets, just the regular scented kind because there was only one brand of natural/unscented where we live and it caused our dryer to malfunction because they stuck to the vent. So, it was either don't use one or use the normal kinded and we opted for the latter. It isn't absolutely necessary to use baby detergent and no dryer sheets with your baby - only if they end up with sensitive skin. We have always used the sheets and I buy All detergent so I just buy the Free and Clear type since it is the same price...but eventually I will probably just switch to something that smells better.
I've read that you aren't supposed to use any kind of fabric softner on Infant and Childrens Flame Retrardent Sleepwear, because it causes them to lose the effect of being Flame Retardent.
I haven't seen as much Flame Retardent sleepwear in stores as I used to though.
Otherwise I use fabric sheets on all of the other infant and kids clothing I wash.
I didn't at first. I used a dye free/fragrance free detergent without any dryer sheets. Then I washed a couple of his things with our regular detergent to see how his skin would react. He didn't break out so now I put all our clothing in together and use dryer sheets as well.
You may want to hold off at first because a newborn's skin CAN, and probably is, be sensitive to things like that. I'm not sure if they make unscented ones though, you may be able to use those.
I found dryer sheets that are okay for baby. I don't know if the regular ones are okay, but I decided not to take the risk... I'm allergic to alot of detergents so I wouldn't be suprised if my baby was too! I know that they say that fabric softeners are really harsh on sensitive skin.

yes we use fabric sheets. We use Melaleuca products that are all natural and very gentle and so non toxic.
I use fabric softener but I rarely use the dryer sheets. She's never been bothered by it.
I used dryer sheets b/c if i didn't, her clothes would carry a lot of static and either cling or shock me.
I use fabric softener and a dryer sheet. I have never heard you aren't supposed to. ~
I used bounce free sheets at first but only used one box (it lasted six months) and then switched her to what we use and she was fine.
i use a dryer sheet, well, half of one since i'm such a cheap bastard.
