Should fabric be pre-washed before sewing doll clothes?

Should fabric be pre-washed before sewing doll clothes to be sold? I figure the buyer is not going to launder the clothes like humans do. Fabrics include cotton, rayon, and polyester.Should fabric be pre-washed before sewing doll clothes?
If there is even a slight chance that the purchaser may wash the clothing items, you should do so first. Iron them and add a little spray starch, if you like, once they're dry. Do wash them, though.

Think of it as simple and inexpensive ';reputation insurance.';Should fabric be pre-washed before sewing doll clothes?
Absolutely. You never know how long your work may be around and someone down the line will probably wash it.

Back in the '70's my sis made a huge wardrobe for a doll. She tried making the doll last and gave up when the face was not to her liking.

Little did she know that my daughter (who was born in 1998) would adopt that faceless doll (loves her to bits!) and all of the clothing!

So, of course, it's all been washed countless times.

Keep sewing!
If you are using fabric that will shrink, like cotton, then yes pre wash it. Little girls are playing with dolls, I am sure the clothes are going to have to be washed.
better do so in case it shrinks after washing
