Why is it so hard to wash the stink out of men's clothes?

I do my own laundry no problem but right now I am trying to wash some of my boyfriend's clothes and they still smell. Why is it so hard to wash the stink out of men's clothes?
Add a cup of white vinegar and it will do the job. You can even put some right in the fabric softener dispenser if you want. The vinegar smell goes away but it's great for removing tough odors from laundry. I use it on my outdoor dogs bedding and her sweaters and jackets ( yes I dress her, she doesn't have a lot of hair) it goes in smelling just awful and it comes out smelling like fresh clean laundry. If it can clean her smell it can clean his!Why is it so hard to wash the stink out of men's clothes?
if it's body odor, try mixing amonia with water in the washer, then add the clothes after it's mixed and let them soak. you know when you have like a favorite shirt you wear all the time and the armpit starts getting a funk cause your deodorant doesn't fully wash out? mixing amonia water in a spray bottle and spraying the problem area works AMAZING. give it a try. just DO NOT MIX IT WITH BLEACH! amonia and bleach makes fumes that can be fatal. good luck : )

ps... i would wash them w. the mixture, then after the cycle is complete i would re-rinse them with good fabric softener like downy april fresh
Sprinkle a little bit of cascade powder into the washing machine. Add your regular detergent and wash. It takes the smells right out. It has taken the smell out of laundry that set wet for several days as well as sweaty football clothes.
Add baking soda to the wash cycle but let the clothes soak in the mix for a while before starting the agitation.
