Is it true that putting your clothes in the wash on a high heat setting will shrink them?

i have lost weight and a few of my clothes are now a bit too big for meIs it true that putting your clothes in the wash on a high heat setting will shrink them?
ya may beIs it true that putting your clothes in the wash on a high heat setting will shrink them?
In my experience it's not a hot wash that does it, it's a long spell in the tumble dryer!
Most garments will shrink but some could also be ruined so its a chance you take
yip
yes
Yes, washing and heat setting will/may cause shrinkage depending on fabric quality.
no im afraid that only works on cirtain materials, plus you can never garuntee that you cloths wont shrink down to kiddies size otherwise everyone would be doing it!! lol
Yes, but the results won't be drastic, just about a 5% shrinkage.. or less.

Try ironing them too
yes but it depends on the material. and its pretty unpredictable how it shrinks. its probably better to take them in on the sewing machine than risk it.
If the clothes in question are cotton.
YES,IT IS TRUE.but, then again,i put mine on a normal wash and they still shrink...
cotton is probably the only thing that will shrink, but that will occur only once....i suggest you just go out and treat yourself to a few new items (as a reward!). new clothes that are made for your new weight will fit and probably feel nicer. also wearing the old ones which may tempt you back to your previous weight as you would have ';room'; to grow!
Only if they're cotton. or linen or wool.
yup its true. follow with a high spin and then tumble dry. however, your not garunteed that the garment will shrink at the same rate, meaning the body might shrink but not the arms. i dont advise you to do this. get the stuff taken in at a tailors.
T shirts will definately shrink on a hot setting but will also make the colours fade and they may shrink in length and be too short for you. Trousers usually shrink in length and jeans may shrink but stretch out again when you wear them. Why not get your clothes altered?
It depends on what material the clothes are made of.
It works on certian fabrics (natural fibres) but it wouldn't work in making your clothes fit. Unless your arms and legs have got shorter as well as thinner.
